The line “Though seasons come and go and sunshine turns to snow.” Is by far the most heartbreaking line I have ever heard in any song ever. In Japanese culture sunshine is associated with life however snow is associated sometimes with love and sometimes with death and in the the context of shigatsu wa kimi no uso means BOTH love and death as in the death of snow kaori confessed her love to kousei. So “sunshine” (life without any connotations of love) turns to “snow”(both love and death at the same time)

M k Yeah but that’s not as deep and I think we were supposed to find the deeper meaning behind the song anyways. YLIA is incredibly sad. “Orange” is meant to convey the darkness of the second half of the series.

The meaning of snow in Japan also reminds me of the song that Mafuyu from given sings in ep.9 *Spoilers* Yuki was represented as snow, Yuki loved Mafuyu so much and then after an argument they had, he committed suicide. I also think it was around winter time when this happened.

And also the line later “we will always have tomorrow up ahead”. “Tomorrow” is something Kaori couldn’t afford to have. No matter how time changes, Kaori will never come back again. Never. She has left Kousei forever.

I discovered Your Lie in April just when I was retaking the piano this year, after 3 years with no contact with it due to borderline traumatic experiences with my previous teacher. Thus I related to Kousei a lot when I saw this show, and seeing everything he went through, even if he is not real, even if he doesn't read or listen me. He has helped me to be determined now that I finally am playing music again. So, sorry if I'm late to the party, and I don't know if it reached, Arima Kousei, but it reached me for sure. Thank you.

I can kinda relate to what you’re saying. I haven’t been able to play the piano for 3,5 years now. I had problems with my teacher and decided to stop taking classes(after 4 years with that witch that calls herself a teacher, I couldn’t take it anymore) my parents got angry at me for not finishing the year(there were 2 months left) and sold my piano as punishment. When i saw your lie in april about a year ago I could relate to kousei. The show is a different kind of special to me because i know the feeling of not being able to play the instrument you love and i understood how he felt. After (and while) watching it i really wanted to play again but I can’t do that yet. But one day i will have enough money to buy my own piano and play again. (Sorry for the rent, sometimes i have to get this off my chest)

it's been a while since I have finished watching Your Lie in April but listening to your cover brought all those bittersweet feelings back again as if I just recently watched it. The piano score was so beautiful yet expresses a longing feeling that just gnaws at your heart and your voice plus the lyrics just makes it hurt even more... Today is my 5th year anniversary and we watched this show together when it aired. We love this show and the beauty it holds. My favorite line in this song is " I hope you won't change; but if you do, you are still you. Don't worry... " It blend with a little grief, pity and most the sense of cherishing. She like the way he used to be as they had been together; but whether he changed, she would still miss him so much and be glad to meet him because she knew that there must be some part of him, either them, never different, and that's enough...

After hearing the Japanese original on repeat for ages now, and hearing this cover only just now... just wow. You managed to capture the heartache and the beauty this song carries. The piano being an octave (not sure if it is a single octave? Could be more?) lower than the original is perfect. Your signing is gentle, and conveys the weight of the lyrics perfectly. I teared up, because understanding the lyrics reminded me of Kaori, and her biggest wish: to have been heard and never be forgotten. The beauty in the tragedy. "Do you think I made it into anyone’s heart like that?" Yes, you did Kaori. You made it into all of our hearts. And we won't forget you.

This song reminds me of my mom because when I was in a dark place thinking about taking my own life every day she would endless nights telling me it's going to be alright you don't son I will always be here with you until the day I die now my mother isn't dead but it scares me that i know one day she will i just hope i will be ready for that day. People cherish your loved ones because we never know ifs that's the last time we see them I hope my story inspires people who felt the way I did all those years ago dont ever stop fighting there is always hope

Why do we just realize that something we have is going to be so precious, when it's gone to leave us or to disappear from this world?! The lie in April, it's all about memories and sadness. Arima Kousei must feel the loss of her loved one for the second time. The song fits perfectly every listen to this song straight to Kaori's memory, especially in April, the lyrics are good. All the sadness is expressed in this song. From the movieI learned that all the seconds we do with our loved ones are precious because they'll all be memories when he's gone.With us again and we have to learn to let go of someone we love so much. 🥺😭🥺😔

I cry every single time I watch this anime, more than the last. I cry during the earlier episodes because I already know so well what's coming next, and yet I keep coming back. I think it's because I like knowing how things end, even if it's depressing, and knowing how things turn out for Kaori and Kousei gives me comfort despite how much they've lost. If anything, Your Lie In April has taught me to just let life flow because you really don't know what's coming next, and tomorrow is never guaranteed. I'm sure no one will read this, but I hope everyone can find the courage to live life to the fullest.

The story Kaori told Kousei in the letter, could be applied to Kousei as well... the moment Kaori struck the first note, Kousei admired her. Playing notes as colourful as a 24-colour palette, the melodies began to dance... and then, just like Kousei in the past, Kaori left. “How dare you after influencing my life like that?”
