In a good society, everyone should cooperate. But what about people who make exceptions for themselves and can get away with it? Some people don't set aside their freedoms for the greater good, and others live contrary to the ideal rules but can avoid punishment. Wouldn't it be rational to take advantage of the system? It seems unfair, but how could that be wrong if rational self-interest is the motivation for social contract theory? These illustrate the Hobbes' "fool" and the general free rider problem.
