I have many disagreements with her argument but what would be the best single objection for this paper she has written?

Could a counterargument be that because all of the Bible was written after evil came into the world, the actions/characteristics we ascribe to God are looked at as good because of our way of understanding good/evil now? Before then, couldn't we have said that God existed and the "all goodness" would have just been normal? Please excuse my ignorance on this topic

Wow, I absolutely loved this video on Epistemology and Ontology! It's such an important topic that helps us understand how knowledge and existence work. The explanations were so clear and easy to grasp, even for someone like me who isn't an expert in philosophy. Thank you for making this video, it was incredibly insightful and has sparked my interest to delve deeper into this fascinating subject!

Okay, I don’t know why there’s not thousands of comments saying “thank you, you just saved my philosophy grade!” Cause this was incredible. Free speech is one of the lessons I missed in my class and I don’t quite understand it. This video….SO HELPFUL. I was looking at the lecture notes and they just didn’t make sense. Thank you SO MUCH for uploading this! It makes sense now!

The problem goes further than that: if determinism is not true and ‘free will’ (in the Libertarian sense) does exist, then you need to explain how choices are made and what is it that makes them to be ‘free’, because: - firstly, if choices are somehow not determined, that then implies that all mental abstractions (ie choices) somehow just spontaneously ‘pop into existence’ a se from somewhere (in the brain as physicalists want us to believe)… that the fundamental principle of ex nihilo nihil fit (from nothing comes nothing) is somehow voided to allow for something to in fact come from nothing; - and secondly, even if we were to grant that it’s somehow possible for something to in fact emerge from nothing, then, what would make that ‘choice’ into something intelligible (ie make it a ‘choice’), and even if it were to somehow be intelligible (and constitute an actual ‘choice’), then what would render it either ‘moral’ and then, render it either a ‘good’ choice or a ‘bad’ choice - it then ought to be ‘morally neutral’, but even that cannot be since there is nothing that determines it as either ‘good’ or ‘bad’ or even ‘neutral’ In Reformed epistemology, this is what is what is known as ‘the Fool’s dilemma’, a quandary that is only resolved within Christian theism which holds that: because God is absolutely sovereign, He is sovereign over all, including the will of man, meaning that, while man has a will (ie no fatalism), his will is not ‘free’ (in the Libertarian sense) since God determines all things; while God holds man morally responsible for his actions, man is nevertheless not morally accountable for his actions…

I have a task that I need to submit every 6 minutes, The task takes 1 minute to complete. Due to the nature of the task, and the fact I am getting paid by the hour and NOT the task, and I have a 10 task per hour target, This helps me to manage my time, as I can do something else and return to the task when I hear the Beep. For anyone wondering why something like this might exist, that's what I use it for.

I think the soul exists in the world of forms maybe. The body is a particular instance of the soul in the material world. Platonic realism?

If you accept the argument that angels and gods are immortal you may argue that their natural habitat is paradise. So you may accept as a matter of fact that a giraffe and it's calf are mammals.

Sometimes philosophers overthink things. There can easily be a utopian city/society without crime. Read the last chapter in the last book of the Bible. It's gonna happen.

This is an interesting response. Do I have it right, that you're saying God does not need to make things right now just as long as he makes things right later?

Maybe this helps. For a murder mystery, you have a bunch of claims you take as evidence: there is a weapon, a crime scene location, the fatal wounds, the people who had motive to kill, etc. The claims that help you come to a definite answer are reasons that push you one way or another. This is the premise of the argument, or where the reasoning starts. Then the conclusion is just what claim makes the most sense, given your evidence. Sometimes we flag our speech with words that give guidance for the logical supports. Feel free to ask more!

but how do you know it is there if it is unseen? even how do you know it is unchanging?
@PhilosophyVajda
@PhilosophyVajda Жыл бұрын
To follow this, you may want to consider the other arguments by Plato. I have videos on some of them, especially from the Dialogues. (Meno for example.) The gist is that reason can tell you that something must be unchanging and true, and it goes beyond the rapidly changing world of experience. Following wisdom can elevate the soul above the mere shadows of what seems to be true, upward to the realm of the eternal and immutable.
