This is Episode 253 of Mike Finnegan's Garage and we are back working on my 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona clone. In this video we are going to convert the car from two pedals to three; that's right I intend to run a manual transmission in Dumpster Fire! A week from now the entire Roadkill Crew, including Steve Dulcich, will be in my garage thrashing to put this car together in just five days. Before they arrive, Joe Cole and I will be installing the pedals assembly into the Charger, rebuilding the front brakes, and marrying the 383 Chrysler big block engine out of Death Metal to the GForce Five speed gearbox out of Blasphemi.
Want more info on the parts we used from Silversport Transmissions? Go here:

That Daytona is one of those "good news/bad news " cars. The good news is they make every panel for that car, the bad news is you need every one of them.

This boys and girls, shows that MATH does, in fact, make a huge difference. Many of us, myself included, get by with the "air gap" of all sorts of things in life instead of really "doing the Math" and figuring it out up front to reduce risk and probability of errors (failure). I am not an engineer, nor am I trained but it's awesome to learn while I enjoy, even more, the stuff I have been around all my life. Thanks, Professor Finnegan for showing us to do the work upfront (when we can) and not just slam stuff together and hopefully continue our lucky streaks. And I am taking an old white-board home from work this week and mounting it in my garage.

A buddy of mine in the late 70's worked at our local small Midwestern town salvage yard..someone drove in a green rusty Duster with a slant 6 and a three on the floor and sold it to them for maybe $100. My buddy needed transportation so a dealer tag and he was all set. I made a "superbird" wing out of a junk square body hood (also green). The bottomof the side struts were bent out 90° and we punched holes through both the wing (who's 3 pieces were stick welded together) and the decklid with an awl and sheetmetal screwed it together. He unscrewed the wing and stored it in the trunk before arriving at work so the owner of the yard didn't take his transportation away from him. We would go cruising down Broadway of the closest big city and it amazed me how many people thought it was a real superbird and wanted to race.we had so much fun in that p.o.s. not sure what ever happened to that car. So don't think you own the 1st fake superbird Mr Finnigan! Love your channel ❤....

It's the same if not worse than Death Metal. The backhalf/frame rails that were added to the car weren't welded to the floors, they were only popcorn welded to the rusty torsion bar boxes. There was really nothing holding the car together when I first got it. Doubtful I"ll ever take it down a dragstrip until major surgery occurs. lol

My buddy had a 1970 Roadrunner with a 383 and an A833 4 speed manual in it, but he had an all MSD controlled ignition on it, it had an Edelbrock dual tunnel ram intake manifold with two Holley 650s on it, a real thumpy cam (I can't remember the specs now), long tube headers, and a full 3" stainless dual exhaust back to Flowmasters and that thing was a real ground pounder. Now he has an all original 1969 Roadrunner with a 440 4 speed, it only has an exhaust on it.

Really enjoyed this episode Mike, that was a lot of stuff done, and a big welcome to the new face there, Joe, we liked his work and demeanor and figure you choose your people well, we're storing popcorn for the when everyone gets there and some more gets done, going to be interesting to see how Mr. D. deals with that nose, and I am curious how you're going to get that rear trunk area stabilized (that tub job is kinda terrifying, especially since it holds parts of the rear body up/together I believe), was thinking that because the frame-rails are so close that maybe an oblong fuel tank set forward-to-back between them? Dunno, I go into some sort of stupid/vicarious dream mode I think. But man, for what it is, I am really surprised how good the frame is, and the interior floors, other than the mouse-holes in the front wells, gotta be a few old license plates kicking around. My vote for any paint would be Tremclad red-ish, white wing, bold black striping down the sides, and cup holders.... :)
