Of course he’s the best teacher and is because he is such a nice person, and honestly more than 3 of the most popular girls that make nice pouring work they just have a “diva” attitude on their videos, they think are really artists, c’mon they just dominate the technique and that’s it....but this guy explain every single step in every process, congratulations for be a very humble person.

Are you saying they’re not artists? Because everyone is an artist. Whether it’s something that appeals to you or not. People talk differently, and that doesn’t mean they’re bad at art. Do not compare people, please be more careful with your wording, and I am sorry if I misunderstood you.

Being nice has nothing to do with being a good teacher. He is good because he has a vast array of knowledge and has a true feeling to share that knowledge with others and learn from them too. The other people you describe are just taking advantage of their knowledge for money and clicks is all.

I'm not sure who you're describing as a diva. If there is that diva type I've missed their videos. Everyone I've become familiar with is self-deprecating, not afraid to mention pour fails even on the pour in their video. This goes for the men and the women. I've picked up through videos and comments that paint pouring has helped them get through tough times including PTSD, loss and grief, depression and anxiety. How can any of them be faulted? If you have negative feelings about any painters, try to open your mind and your heart and vow to not judge others harshly. If there are a few you don't care for, it's simple. Don't watch them.

Artist or not artist, painter or not painter, diva or not diva I was just trying to say: It’s nice to be IMPORTANT But more important is to be NICE And of course I don’t have any bad feeling against anybody, mostly when pouring helped me to stay in home during the pandemia and I’m still doing it and loving it and I’m still learning from all nice people posting videos teaching us something new

I like how you don't use flashy text to make your point. You take it one step at a time and you don't miss anything. I have issues with feathering (making leaves) and you covered it well enough it made sense to me. I was dipping too much with my dryer. I love the dirty pour. I started with the flip cup method but I now have the confidence to try other methods because of how you teach.

Hey, I wanted to leave a tip I recently learned in case it’s helpful for anyone else. When measuring out your paints and mediums, an easy way is to use a syringe. A 20cc syringe actually has measurements in 1/4oz increments! If you are using craft paints in a 2oz squeeze bottle, you can press the syringe up to the opening (where you’d squeeze the paint out) and pull the paint out with the plunger (or pull the plunger and gently squeeze the bottle). I hope this helps someone. Have a great day, I hope it’s colorful!

Thank you, I want to try this for my small soap mold works. I have a tree ring design in mind but done a base of cream and then my rings with bright gold, metallic copper, dark metallic gold, adding a wee bit of red to the bright gold, then dark gold, bright gold and well, whatever my heart says to use next. Oh and I want to reserve some of the cream to use between some of the colours. Or maybe try black? Regardless, small squeeze bottles or a tiny syringe sounds spot on! Woohoo 🎉

I am new to the acrylic paint pouring world and I have watched a ton of videos. With that being said there are way too many artists out there that are in love with the sound of their own voice! They ramble on and on for what seems like forever before any paint is poured onto a canvas. I love the way you do your tutorials. You go at a easy to learn pace and you get to the point immediately. Which I appreciate. And you have a great sense of humor too! I loved that yellow T-shirt you worn in a video. On the front it said something like "I'm a big ray of sunshine". I cracked up. Keep up the great work and I'll keep watching and "liking".

I am so new to pouring that I am in the process of watching how it's done. I am 78, a baker/cake decorator by profession. I am intrigued by the unpredictable nature of this medium of expression and also reminds me of looking through a kaleidoscope as a child. So I've decided to test the waters. I am in the process of putting together my shopping list keeping in mind that I live in a small apartment. Needless to say that these videos have helped me to get some idea and as David says it's time to stop watching videos and do the real thing. Thank you, David, for your inspiring videos.

@@LeftBrainedArtist It is wonderful. I started out wanting to be a writer, but the only thing I ever wrote, after my BS degrees in psychology and medical technology, were memos, procedure manuals, and in-service education presentations, as well as computer training materials in the hospital I worked in. There was a point at which I seriously considered leaving lab medicine and moving over to IT, but I didn't. Kick me!! After I retired, I returned to school and got an MA in English, focusing on technical writing and early British literature. My stifled creative side re-emerged when the pandemic started, and now, at this stage of my life, I find both my left and right brain fascinated by pour painting. Who'da thunk it?? Oh, yeah, my daughter's a sculptor.😀 Your clear cut instructions are most welcome here. Keep it up.

Well, I hope I don't hurt feelings here. But this is the best teaching and teacher on acrylic pouring I've come across. I totally understand everything said and explained. The teaching is completely organized and clear not scattered and vague. Lots of great teachers out there, I just get this teaching better. The art you create is beautiful. After about a year and a half break, I'm going to start painting again. Got all my stuff. I've ordered two brands of and styles of paint. I've got a set of Mont Marte acrylic signature colors. And I've got a set of Inklab metallic acrylic paint . May I ask, are those considered craft paints? (So I'll know how to mix with glue all/water). Thank you for all you teach us! 💛💛💛💛💛
@LeftBrainedArtist
@LeftBrainedArtist 3 жыл бұрын
No, neither of those I would consider craft paints Karin. They are more like student level paints. I will admit I haven't used a lot of either brand but I do know some great artists use them an get pretty awesome results and I have seen good reviews of them. Based on that I think you chose well and I hope you enjoy Acrylic Pouring as much as I do.

David, thank you for your videos! I started paint pouring during the first year of the pandemic and loved it. But work and grad school took over my life and for about a year I haven't done any painting. I'm still very much a beginner and needed a refresher on everything!! I so appreciate you sharing your experience and being a great teacher.. As much as I hate math, I learned from your videos that I need to use it so that I'm not miscalculating paint quantity (wasting paint or not using enough) as well as the ratio of paint to pouring medium, etc. I look forward to digging into more of your videos 🙂 Keep on doing what you're doing and enjoying your art!

I always tell people to start with glue and student acrylic paints. I mix my glue 70% glue and 30% water to make my pouring medium. Then I mix them 1 part paint and or 3 parts pouring medium. If you use craft paints you only want to go 1 part paint and 1 part pouring medium.

Just responded on another thread too - I always use Floetrol or Glue as my base as it is much cheaper that just using paint and water. Keep in mind no matter what you do paper will buckle slightly when it gets wet but is great for practice for sure Elena.

Can you please send me a link to something that will help me with getting cells? I keep trying but I'm not successful yet at getting any or even any consistent cells. I'm using ready to pour paint mixed with gloss pouring medium 1:2 and adding 1-2 drops of silicone oil and I just started using a torch. That's about all I can tell you about what I'm doing and it's not working. Maybe I should be using straight paint instead of ready to pour? Any help you can give me would be appreciated. Thank you again!

The best thing I have is this leftbrainedartist.com/acrylicpourcells/ You don't want to use any additional medium with ready to pour paint. They already have medium mixed in. Also gloss medium doesn't tend to make the best cells so removing that should help. Only use 1 drop of silicone (tiny drop) per 2 ounces of paint. Try only putting it in one or two colors at first. If you use regular acrylid paint then you do the one part paint to two parts pouring medium mixture.
