Leg curls are also a great way to warm up the knees! Squats and leg presses feel smooth like butter after starting leg day with leg curls.

I couldnt really train quads for years as I would always get serious knee pain. A couple of months ago I started doing leg curls first on a youtuber recommendation and I've had zero knee pain since. As a 50 year old its been a life saver as Im getting to an age where training legs is the most important thing.

Leg curls are necessary if you want a full development of your hamstrings. RDLs, deadlifts and good mornings only train the hip hinge but not the part of the muscle which is behind the curling. It's the same for the leg extensions and squats/leg presses.

@sebastianboredal7486

RDLs are much more fatiguing since the whole posterior chain is worked, and there's axial loading. If your going light to avoid the fatigue it won't be very stimulating

Can't over development of an antagonist muscle hinder force production of agonist muscles. If so, wouldn't over stimulating the hamstrings play so kind of role in limiting force production in squat? Similar to biceps during a bench press?
