Notice how much closer to a real bike is yamaha's gearbox. In fact it works the same way as in a 1:1 motorcycle. Something that can't be said about the bimmer's gearbox.

Excellent video, but just an observation, the direction of the front wheels are reversed, both in the Lego project and on the real bike.

Although both of these are the same scale and the Yamaha looks nicer, I actually think that bike is really quite poor value next to the BMW; the Yamaha is barely any cheaper and there's a lot less bulk to it by comparison. True that's how the real bike is, but then the price should be a lot lower; £160/$200 is where it should've been. I did get the BMW for £113 last year before the price hike and it was tempting to get the Yamaha earlier this week for £100, but I skipped it as I worry how much of the frame and structuring is repeated from the BMW set as I noticed a number of shared parts and sections. It's a concern that cropped up from the 1:8 scaled supercars, as I found out so much of the internal structure is the same between the Lamborghini Sian and the Ferarri Daytona sets, the latter of which I'm outright skipping for that reason. Granted both sets are designed by the same person and there's only so much you can do or add. But it's enough to make me pause and ask myself if I want to spend a lot again to build the same bits again, with most of the difference being just the body.

I wish the suspension springs here were in the lego supercars. The Bugatti Chiron's springs can barely even hold the model's weight.

I have the BMW. The build is not perfect (those bloody radiator panels are guaranteed to fall of if you sneeze close to it let alone pick it up) but as a set I can't find anything I like better on the Yamaha except those new azure gear pieces. It's an inferior set in every way possible and I wouldn't exchange it for the BMW even if I could. Thanks for this comparison, it helped me understand the differences/similarities between the two sets. 🫡👋

I have the Lego BMW bike I perfer that one to the Yahama bike
