Usually, it was a ‘cabinet’ TV’ that sat on the floor (which was the kind my Grandparents had, so we’d sleep over Friday Nights and get up at 5am to watch Saturday cartoons! They had like 12 Channels!!). Anyway, on those TV’s there was a panel that opened for those xtra contrast controls.

As someone who owns an NES (I got it for Christmas brand new in 86'or 87' and it still works) this is one of the best sets LEGO has ever made. That Easter Egg is a reference to level 1-2, the ending where you could jump over the finish and get to a teleport or rather a "cheat" that was built into the game so you could skip to alternate levels.

I loved this set so much. It's probably my set of the year in 2020. The cheer amount of big (and long) plates and big bricks is absolute ridiculous here and you literally feel that every cent you spend for it is worth the money while you're opening the bags and empty them out alone. It feels expensive and it was an absolute blast to build.
@kevinumber7

This is my favorite build all time. Ppl think it's a real NES. A fun but challenging build. I think the gamer nostalgia is gonna catch fire. Well be playing these games on a lego system soon. The build to drop the cartridge in is surreal

Love seeing a new video on this build since I watched all the old ones already and I also build it myself. As a build, it's fantastic. All the mechanics coming together. And as already said earlier in the comments, the stickers are spot on, they are stickers on the real cartridge too!

Enjoyed your review of this set Jang! It was cool to see all the features Lego put into this set. To answer your question about the two ports on the back left side of the tv, those I believe are the horizontal and vertical adjustment screws. I remember those on those old CRT tv's. Banging the side of the set would work too! 😁

As someone who grew up with the original thing, I can say that this was an amazing build. I was more curious to see how they attempted to replicate the cartridge slot since it is the most unique thing about the NES. I'm even more surprised that they included the gaps for the external ports which, to my knowledge, were rarely if never used (only the Gamecube had a worldwide official external item to insert under the console). I do love the easter egg as well and the fact that the controller is one-by-one except the buttons which is expected. The TV was fun, yet I also faced the same issues regarding the mechanism. However, I must point out that my set had a missing piece, a tile for the skybox but LEGO did ship it rather quickly. It was the first, but not last time that this happened to me. But it was a great experience that easily matches up with the 1989 Batmobile. One could say that this Super Mario piece is the most unorthodox minifig ever.
