Is it really easy to clear the basket from the coffee grounds if using the metal filter that comes with it

This seems like it would have similar characteristics to an Aeropress brew, but using vacuum vs pressure (press). Cool brewer.

Great design.. my only issue is the $360 price tag.. I mean there isn’t a whole lot to it… I can appreciate it, but that price point assumes they disrupted the industry with something groundbreaking which they haven’t done… it’s a nice redesign on a very old brewing method.

I get it truly I do but price tag aside I am again excited about vacuum brewing thanks to the BIRD. Vacuum brewing has been around since the 1800s with no innovation until the 2023 release of the Tiger Siphonysta and Weber Workshop BIRD. Exploring vacuum brewing, I've found unique experiences with both the moka pot and the siphon. While the Moka Pot excels with darker roasts, the siphon presented challenges that were more frustrating than successful (keeping the water from boiling the coffee was a challenge). The BIRD delivered consistent deliciousness cup after cup right after unboxing allowing me to explore more than just dark roasts but a huge variety of roast levels, processing methods and coffee varieties. Someone just getting into coffee probably would not go this route but as a coffee enthusiast who has a penchant for gear and a curiosity to explore innovative coffees, I would continue to finance my coffee journey to see just how far the rabbit hole goes despite potential spousal backlash. 😄

@@BlackWhiteCoffeeRoastersI respect that position and appreciate you sharing it.. pricing aside, I can definitely see some value as you had mentioned and also that it appears to be a very pleasant experience in workflow and materials.

Great video! BIRD looks like a great show piece and satisfying to use. I’d never thought about enjoyment on a “farm level” versus “roast level” so thanks for that insight. One question I have is about the practicality: how’s the clean-up and ease of resetting for the next brew?
@BlackWhiteCoffeeRoasters
@BlackWhiteCoffeeRoasters 6 ай бұрын
Ahh the clean up: I should have showed you what the puck looks like. Well it’s easy. There will be a puck inside the pod. Unscrew the bottom of the pod and you will be able to knock or shake the coffee puck right out. A simple rinse of the pod, gizmo and glass will have you ready for the next brew or if not brewing another coffee I add a little cleaner in the glass with water; add the pod and gizmo; plunge a couple times; rinse and dry.

That whole "farm level" vs. "roast level" is kind of catchy- like "here is your USP"...but it would be interesting why of all brewers the bird would be the weapon of choice for this. The Aeropress offers as much freedom with grindsize, filtering, steep time and so on (for a fraction of the birds price) So, what so far no reviewer could answer- besides the engineering aspect, the looks, the hands on, the "innovation"- what is so unique in the cup that you cannot achieve with other (muuuuch cheaper and less fuzzy) methods

I agree that farm-level statement sounded like a catch phrase without really meaning anything. To me it kind of discredits the review making meaningless unfounded statements like that. If they can describe exactly how this magic brewer can allow you to bypass the crucial step of coffee roasting I would be very intrigued!

Does this alter the taste? How does this compare to pour over or espresso?
@nightowl9792
@nightowl9792 6 ай бұрын
Currently I drink only espresso (using a cafelat robot) and enjoy lighter roasted coffees (such as yours) and especially African beans, naturally processed, anerobic, etc. So, I would enjoy using the bird if I could still do short, intense cups, like a 5-1 or 9-1 ratio of water to coffee. Can you explain more about how you’ve used this machine with finely ground coffee? Also, what’s the brew time, in terms of how long you have coffee in the chamber?

I would love to understand how this brewer helps you understand the terroir better than aeropress or a french press. Maybe it has something to do with the fidget spinner like workflow...

The BIRD facilitates the utilization of a finer coffee grinder setting, enabling the extraction of volatile compounds that might otherwise be retained in coarser grinds. Picture the heightened brilliance of a coffee variety (bourbon, Gesha etc)fruity nuances of a coffee due to a specific coffee region or farm terroir and floral aromas achieved when extracting natural processed Ethiopian coffees as espresso (pressurized brewing); a similar intensity in flavors can be achieved with the vacuum brewing of the BIRD (without the viscosity of espresso) compared to the same coffee in a French press.

Interesting, but they have to find a manufacturer who can produce it in volume to the extent that they can cut the price at least in half. If this were $160 instead of $360, I might be sucked into ordering one.
