LOOK EVERYBODY, IT'S MIKE!! ") Hey brother, good to see you! I've not been around for quite some time with surgeries and health issues, but I always like to check in and see how you're doing when I can!! I was lead vocals in two Dio cover bands, and those years were some of the most fun in what amounted to a 25 plus year career!! My wife and I had a very successful business which was netting over $1,000 $2,000 a week, which was worth so much more back around 1984/85. We started a family and our first son of three, "Michael" was born. I was also performing at least every weekend with a rock band playing classic rock from the greats - Beatles, Eagles, The Who, Elvis (Thankah Thankah Very Mussssh) Styx and yes, even KISS! We bought a beautiful Victorian house which as 8' ceilings, 6" baseboard and crown molding throughout! The house was huge and had 4 bedrooms and the master bedroom had a really steep set of stairs from the kitchen, which would be used by servants. What I really loved was the 6 gables! The attic went the entire length and width of the house and had a twelve inch sunken floor! I started building a studio in the attic when my health dose dived and I almost turned in my coat ticket!! I had major surgery and woke up with a zipper!! The staples went from flank to flank, straight across my abdomen! My bile ducked had been accidently nicked, but nobody noticed and so the clock started as soon as they rolled me back to my room. The story is far too detailed and long, so I'll give a very short version! I ended up battling between "here" and "there" and could be completely out cold for days on end before opening my eyes, only to crash again! My wife and family were told I was not going to survive...oh, don't worry I made it!! ") CHEEKY! So, after three and a half months I made those "specialists" look silly and was rolled out and went home! I ended up having to go back for another month, and it took over two years before I felt normal again Again, long story short - we lost EVERYTHING!! The business, house, cars, my beloved F 150 three on the tree pickup, our boat and hovercraft! Then I had to apply for disability. I was not eligible because we had savings and investments, and so we had to live on that until it ran out, then I was eligible. going from thousands a week to $700 a months was a severe shock, and I became depressed for the first time in my life! I felt as though I had let my wife and we had two boys at the time, I felt like I stole their future. That laid heavy on my heart for over two decades when my eldest son Michael sat me down and unloaded everything he had on his heart, reassuring me that I was an awesome Dad and a great husband. He told me he could care less about not having a lot of money or a house, that the most important thing to himself and his brothers was the family. That was the day I resolved to never again allow things I had zero control over to push me back into that deep dark lonely hole! If a problem comes up and there's a solution, I'll get going with it. If a problem comes up that I have no control over and cannot see any options, I let that shot ride!! To my surprise, those most difficult issues I had to release, 9 of 10 times end up resolving themselves one way or another!! So, I never worry about anything anymore, in the immortal words of my childhood crush, Doris Day (tied with Susanne Sommers and Barbra Eden, ) "kay sara sara, whatever will be will effing be"!! OK I may have embellished on the "effing" dealio! That change of attitude/spirit pushed me out of my death bed and I went straight to work in saving every damn penny we managed to scrape up! It took many years and some help from the Almighty, but we managed to buy a plot of land in a small lakeside town, which was just over 150 yards to the lake from our plot!! We're on a quiet street surrounded by thousands of acres of old growth forest!! We built our new house with help from my sons and friends, which is 1,200 square feet, a raised bungalow with two bedrooms in the basement, and a rec room in the basement as well as a work shop, and a full bathroom and laundry room! Upstairs we have three bedrooms, a living room dining room and full en-suite bathroom! I built a seven foot wood fence with my sons and a balcony off the kitchen back door!! When I see you, in spite of your own serious medical issues, I see an incredibly strong willed man who refuses to allow the situation you find yourself in cause any bitterness!! YOU ARE ROCK SOLID BROTHER!! My motto is ' I WILL NEVER SURRENDER, BECAUSE THIS IS A GOOD DAY TO DIE"!! Take care and God bless you and your awesome family my brother!! Jack ~'()'~

I saw Hawkwind in 1973. I was told Lemmy had been their bassist. (However I don't know if Lemmy was still in the band, when I saw them.) Saw Robin Trower, along with King Crimson, & Ten Years After at the same show., 1974. I'd never heard of Trower (though he was the first guitarist I saw with a huge half circle of pedals. Little did I know that was to be the wave of the future). My point is, for years, for some reason I thought Trower's vocalist was Dio. I could've sworn that's who Robin said was his singer. I was scolded recently, that I was an idiot, Dio NEVER workeed with Robin.(He did songs that night, I came to recognize as cuts from Bridge of Sighs which was released later that yr in US) Oh well. Hope you're well Mike. Blessings from me & my crew. Gil

Glad to see you looking well as usual, Mike. I definitely loved Dio, too. I have some very strong memories directly connected to both Holy Diver and The Last In Line albums and an 18 month period from 1984 - 85. I became a Lemmy fan a few years earlier, around 1980 or so. Thanks for another video on a cool subject! 👍🤘🙏
