I forgot to mention that this build gives up Last Stand in favor of AR and EM. This could have had implications since I played the game using my DCP thinking I did have LS. I havent used the captain in a while, and just forgot its configuration, it wasnt till late in the game where my engine busted that I noticed.
Beware having multiple builds. It can lead to bad things like this.

The kids are fine, especially since you pause when necessary. I really like your commentaries and hope you will keep it up. It keeps reminding me that I have a lot of room for improvement for my situational awareness and anticipating what the other guy will do.

Rocky Long Thanks for the feedback. We all have room for improvement if we are striving for excellence. I made a few errors myself this game, I can only learn from them and not repeat them. The game mirrors real life this way.

Kuro, you and #1 make a great tag team combo. She obviously gives you an almost unfair advantage when she shoots those love messages at you. She is adorable and you seem to be a very good dad.

Glad you enjoyed it I was concerned it would be too much Dinosaur for a video. It didnt help she got me off track bad. Shes amazing at that!

Beware having adorable and affectionate children. It can lead to videos like this. :-D Sounds like a good one for the Dino files, but I'll be looking at it again for gunboating hints next time I bring the Minsk out.

Yeah she surprised me this video! Minsk has more gunboat potential because you dont need EM. You can drop EM for LS to shore up your engines tankiness.

@@destroyerkuroshiokai My Minsk captain is now my 19 point Smolensk captain; he has PT LS BFT AFT DE IFHE AR, so he should be good to go. I considered moving him to the Kiev, but the retraining cost would be rather steep and I'd rather keep him where he is and use him to farm ECXP. I have the doubloons for it, but I'd rather use them for other things.

Nice game! I picked up the Leningrad way back, only had one Russian captain. I moved him to Smolensk though and respected him there. Do you think I can make him work on Leningrad and Smol both? Its a 13pt with PT, AR, SI, AFT, DE right now. I have some elite commander xp so I would add either PM or LS. Im still at only 1250 games, with only 5 T10, 2 T8 (Asashio and Kaga) and 2 T7 (Haida and Leningrad). My eyes are now on Friesland, sitting at 340k FXP atm, Georgia (68k coal left) and Neustrashimy.. well, this one will take a while. Also only have 2 19pt captains yet. So to I dont have to many commanders yet, especially because I dont own any Russian techtree ships yet, they are even more rare in my port. I am stacking a lot elite commander xp, because my Shima and Hakuryu captains are both at 19p and I share them between Asashio and Kaga too. Im planning on having enough ECXP for a 14p Friesland and at least 10p for Georgia - if I dont got Halsey by then.

It can work in a pinch, but if I were to use a captain on Smolensk I would likely use my Grozovoy captain. I prefer PM over PT on DDs and a lot of stealth CAs since you are going to get shot at as soon as you get seen anyways. The big one is EM. Leningrad needs it, Smolensk does not. My Grozovoy captain: wowsft.com/ship?index=PRSD210&modules=11211&upgrades=143224&commander=PCW001&skills=275939330&consumables=11111 To note you can drop LS for AR and play it more passive when it comes to fighting DDs. That would sync better with a Smolensk build. At the end of the day you run what you have and work towards better.

"CV's really have destroyed the island camping meta" - I'm not sure I agree with you there, if anything has had an impact on island camping ships it's the ability of the Kremlin/Thunderer to smash through the nose of bow-in cruisers. In my opinion the island camping meta is still very much in force, the only impact CV's have had is reducing the ability of flanking cruisers to get wide and push flanks solo and to make DD's reluctant to cap.

Watch a good CV play. They use islands to mask their approach avoiding AA until they are ready to strike. Its particularly punishing with the IJN CV line with AP bombs. They just nuke CAs trying to hold island positions even harder than BBs can because the BB needs vision to shoot them. The CV can just go in and hammer them at little cost.

@@destroyerkuroshiokai I agree with you that the Unicum CV players do that, but that's a small % of the CV players and number of random battles. Mostly you'll see a massive ball of ships hiding behind the same island - scared to push beyond and get singled out - convinced that holding behind the island together will save them. Your comment makes it sound like the CV re-work has removed the island camping meta - which is just not true.

@@davidbartonrsl1074 I believe it has, good players will no longer use the islands as heavily as before when CVs are present. They always are ahead of the curve as the game play changes. I expect good, and average players to follow along eventually when they learn. I'm not saying no one will use an island, there are plenty of times when it can still be a powerful move. I am saying that the game will be moving away from island camping being the primary strategy over time if nothing else changes.

Drop AR ... LS is much more important ... anyway the ship needs the Minsk/Gnevny turret traverse buff badly ... It is outclassed by the Frenchies in the gun department and actually does not work well with a Khabarovsk captain ... better with a Grozovoi captain + EM ...
