I have a Nitro 5 RTX3060, i5 10300H. I upgraded from a 8gb single RAM stick to dual channel 2x8gb RAM sticks. My fps increased from 20-40% on different games. Insane difference

Hey Jarrod! Love the vids!! really love how you sorta cover everything! I just had a couple of questions i wanted to ask, and i saw this pop up in my recommended so i decided to just pop on and see if anyone replies! Ok so i want a decent mid range laptop which is quite future proof, so should i go for an rtx 3050 or save up for a 1660ti and go for something like the m15? or should i just get the g5 15 se or something like the tuf a 15 or a 17(getting a great deal with this one) and use the ryzen controller software to limit their temps?

Haha yeah I ain't got time for that, already had some people upset that I didn't do this on some other laptop recently. I think it's been demonstrated now, so probably not going to do it too much going forward.

I'm pretty sure that this thing does so well because of the fact that there's very little different between it and the 3070 model aside from th different gpu. The motherboards seem extremely similar. So Lenovo can just feed the 3060 as much power as it desires, and get as much performance as possible.

Great video as always. I think it was mentioned at the end there would be a comparison with last year's legion with the 1660ti. Do you happen to know how this compares with model with the 2060? Not sure if there's enough of a performance difference to justify paying an extra 200 Euros. Really appreciate the work you do and the details you go into in your reviews. Hello Jarrod, could you please check in full review if there is a possibility to completely turn off the fans in quiet mode? ( I have heard that there was a new BIOS update after which this function was removed and now the fans are always on). Could you also check the fan noise/ coil wine noise - i have read that the LEGIONS have an issue with irritating sound either fom one or the other. Also in some polish reviews there was an issue mentioned about random shutdowns and restarts of this laptop. Your reviews and contribution are greatly appreciated, fantastic work!

Thanks for the cool content you make! Can't wait to see the full review of the Legion 5, the R7 model with the RTX 2060 of last year was a beast too, though the cooling fans made a weird pitch at idle and it made the laptop unusable in quiet environments like a library or a lecture room (at least the 17-inch model). Even in quiet or ultra quiet mode they rarely stop spinning, no matter if you're on battery or plugged in. I really hope this problem was solved this year.

Thanks for the great review! I just picked this up today over the new slim 7. Hello removable ram, better cooling, and a 130 watt 3060 vs the 100 on the slim! This laptop beat out the Alienware r5 due to the ship time (buy it now) and the higher powered 3060!

As a good subscriber, I've been waiting several months for stock to buy a XMG of which you speak so well. But 10 days ago, out of despair to substitute my 8y old machine, I bought this exact model of the Legion 5 for 1250eur. Now I am so relieved to see that you bough it for yourself as well! Waiting for the Full Review video! PS: In my model I had the chance to test the batery and lasted 5h50 watching youtube (with optimus mode). But I noticed that a lot of times it disables optimus when I restart the computer, forcing me to restart the machine a activate it again in the BIOS. Wonder if is something common.

Comparing Pro vs Non-Pro models with similar specs (same CPU and GPU etc.) - What Will be the benefit of Pro over non-Pro? This would be a helpful comparison. Also for someone who's going to mostly connect laptop to a monitor is there any benefit in opting for Pro models ?

Hello Jarrod, thanks for the great work. By any chance, wouldn't you have a GE76 11980HK with RTX 3070 8GB for benchmarking? It is in similar price range to Lenovo Legion 7 with R9 5900HX and 3080 16GB and I am really split on if the 11th gen outweights the RTX 3080. Thanks

@Patrick Swan the difference can be bigger than 5% in cpu bound scenarios, and i think if you resell the original sticks you dont have to loss 100-200 quid

Do you think that with the 3070 version, I would be having better results in cpu heavy games like bfv? Because i've seen your L5PRO 3070 testings, and they were quite amazing, i know that the pro version has 140 tgp, but even tho. I saw that video and now i'm wondering if its worth, since its a stronger gpu

@@johnsonshen8824 I am pretty OCD, my wife even jokes that i will usually return something... I have not encountered a single issue with the Lenovo legion 5. Fit and finish is fantastic. Thermals are great. No dead pixels or any fuckery like that. I have even taken it apart and added a 2nd m.2 drive.

@@gamonize543 yes it works really well still. Since day one to the present I've been able to play Apex legends at 144fps. But I must mention that I did open it up 2-3 times to clean the dust from fans. Apart from that I over clocked the GPU n undervolted the CPU a little for better thermals.

I checked and I have the wifi card by Intel Ax200 160hz, not the worse Realtek replacement. I was wondering if maybe I also got a better RAM since the pandemic supply shortages should be now less painfull. I also have the 240W power supply.

My HP OMEN you reviewed still displays on the laptop screen when I manually disable the AMD VEGA IGP, shouldn't this be impossible? essentially isn't manually disabling the IGP acting as a make shift MUX switch?

I cannot decide between this - 1080p 165hz screen, r7 5800h, rtx 3060 130w, 60w battery (the only config available in my country at the moment) and the HP Omen 15 with 144hz 1080p screen, r7 5800h and RTX3070 100w, 70w battery. Do you have any stats on the battery life for the model you have? (Also, do you have the 60w or 80w battery?) It's an important factor for me, since I'll be taking it to the university auditorium, The Lenovo is 1450 euros, while the Omen is 1760 euros, so I am unsure whether or not the slightly bigger battery and RTX 3060 -> RTX 3070 (future proofing thanks to larger VRAM? But then again wattage is lower...) step up justifies the 300+euro difference. Any advice is appreciated! Also, huge props to you, since your videos have already immensely helped me narrow down my choices in the last couple days!

I was able to get my hands on a legion 5 like 2 weeks ago love it, but quick question how did you take off the tape on the hinge?

It is hard to peel it off. I tried pulling it from both sides and in the meantime opening and closing the lid, so it is not in the way. In the end I managed to peel it off completely, both on the big lid hinge and the two smaller lid hinges at the ends.

I hope you get to test this out on ROG Strix G17 with RTX 3060, I have the G733QM and I'm wondering if I'd see any gains to change RAM... although I have the Optimus bottleneck as well... maybe after 1-2 years when games become more demanding I'll do it to gain few FPS, as now all of them fly at 1080p maxed out.

Hey guys, great deal on this computer rn. I'm tempted... But I got a series X. So Im not sure if it's worth it. Will this computer be able to do 4k with DLSS and RT? If I hook it up to my TV can it also do 4k 60 fps in some games, at least at medium settings?

Hello, thanks for the nice video. the ram kit you used has a latency of cl22, and already upgrade performance. I would like to know if is possible to install a lower latency kit, like: Crucial Ballistix (cl16 but not sure of amd autotuning) Kingston Fury Impact (cl20 autotune) G. Skill Ripjaws (cl16 autotune) Ballistix are on the value side, g. skill on the highest price, Fury are the slowest, soooo... no idea how to choose

Excellent game testing video! Please, feature the Legion 5 (2021) R7 5800H RTX 3070 130W, and compare it with Legion 5 Pro R7 5800H RTX 3070 140W; how much difference in performance makes 10W TGP? Is there a Boost Clock difference while gaming? Many posts show interest in this comparison. Thanks a lot in advance!

Is 3200 MHz C19 the best This PC can handle? Or can i buy even faster RAM? I want to upgrade to better RAM as my legion has slower timings like yours, seen with zentimings

Hi Jarrod, I have the Legion 5 3060, Ryzen 5600H with 8GB ram. On games like Dota 2 and Valorant my GPU wattage sits at around 30-40? Is this normal. I’ve updated all my drivers, run everything on max settings and running in performance mode 🤷‍♂️ im stumped

Hey Jarrod! As far as you know, is it possible to overclock ram on 10th Gen Intel over 2933? Specs say it's the max supported, but the top rankings on TimeSpy all show higher. Can't find an answer online! Thanks

hello, i'm not able to find memories with frequencies 3200 mhz, in stores here in my country, but i have a hyperx impact memory 16 gb 2666 mhz cl15 can i use it in legion 5? Even if the faster you lower the frequency, I would like to know if you have the compatibility to work together.

There's an MSI laptop available in my country with and i5 10500h and an RTX 3060. Is this hexacore i5 similar in performace to the i7-10750h? Will it bottleneck the 3060?
