A couple of tips from me. You could unplug the battery with each upgrade, just to be safe. I also recommend an antistatic hand strap or antistatic gloves to really avoid static discharges on the electronics. You always have to be careful with electronics. I know that from my job.

Isnt there a cooling pad under those covers where you place/install the new SSD. If no cooling pad, it would be best to place one. Just a thought.

i just bought the 980 pro version of this, though my legion 5 pro ( 2020 ) doesnt support gen 4 speeds, i plan on keeping it for the future for when i buy a new laptop, it will surely support it, just one question, i know nvme drives run significantly hotter than sata ssd, is it worth buying a heatsink for mine? i plan on using the 980 pro as my default drive ( i have a sata ssd 250gb that came with the laptop) that will just be used for spare space, as the 980 will be my primary drive im afraid of overheating etc, if you have any knowledge of this, could you let me know, thanks :)
@lukasrandoms67162 жыл бұрын
Hi, is there a enough room for heatsink? There is a factory heatsink, my guess is that should be enough

5 / 5 pro has onle pcie 3.0 for ssd, SO even if entered 980 Pro, which has Absolutely amasing speed on pcle 4.0 (7000/5500) we dont get advantages, cause only pcle 3.0.

For AMD version LP5 yes. ZEN3 not supported pci-e 3.0 but intel version Lp5 has got thunderbolt and pci-e 4.0. Anddd GPU pci 16x + 20line. AMD PCi 3.0 8X 8line. mine AMD LP5 come with WD black SN730. And benchmark skore 3400/3100 mb/sn . I wonder if I add another ssd, will it split the speed?
@darrdiamanse25222 жыл бұрын
so what do you recommend sir?
@yazilimcionline2 жыл бұрын
@@darrdiamanse2522 It's a matter of budget. Intel version is always more expensive than AMD. If the price difference gives you a profit according to your usage scenario, you will choose Intel. Otherwise AMD is all kinds of better. They're actually head-to-head devices. For example, if thunderbold is very important to you and you have dual SSDs in your laptop and you are going to move large files at once, intel makes sense if you are doing these things. But if you work mostly freelance, do average graphic design, gaming, programming etc., I would recommend an AMD device, it's not worth paying the price difference for Intel. Of course, if there is a price difference. If there is no difference between the two devices and the hardware is one-to-one, I would buy intel. For the ability to undervolt and install lower latency ram. I've reviewed PCI-e 4 SSDs a lot. All of them give similar performance, except for moving large single files. Game downloads are always the same. The 3.0 interface is never in a capacity to bottleneck in normal use today and in the future.

hi. Thank you for the video. I have just one question though. How is the temperature of the 980 installed ? Does it get very hot while gaming? How many degrees?
@szellllest2 жыл бұрын
Hey! I cannot say for 980 but for 970 PRO 512GB. During disk only test (no GPU heat involved / no gaming) under Linux dd writing full of zeros 512GB - I hit 75 degrees at end of test. When light work involved up to 55 degrees and when doing completely nothing - 25-35 degrees. I tested it during room temperature around 20 degrees. I'm pretty happy with the results :-)

I would rather avoid Samsung 980 for laptop use altogether. See my earlier video how hot it could run at a desktop PC: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/fb9ih5OmuLLPcYU.html. That's the reason I went for ADATA XPG SX8200 Pro instead. That's another video. :) kzfaq.info/get/bejne/gMWqg9x7lrHPlKc.html

Hi Luka, thank for the guides, I really want to upgrade my incoming L5P. Btw do we need to unplug the battery or just turn off the laptop when we want to upgrade the RAM or/and SSD?
@lukasrandoms67162 жыл бұрын
Thank you for you message. I'm not a professional :D, but i don't think so that you have to unplug battery. Of course if it's easy to do why not. In my opinion most important thing is to touch some metal to discharge static electricity before start to install components...
@Dillox052 жыл бұрын
I unplugged mine only cause I saw a video about upgrading ram. The guy in that video did and I was just copying him. It's probably recommended cause then the board has no power at all. I had to edit my response cause on a different video someone commented that they blew out there board dropping a screw. Im definitely not a professional lol but figured I'd pass that along
@savvylayman2 жыл бұрын
It's always safer to disconnect the battery but I think it's not completely needed provided the laptop is fully turned off. I've seen someone replacing RAM sticks while the system was running and a short occurred which caused some smoke. Fortunately, just the RAM stick died, not the whole motherboard.
@Dillox052 жыл бұрын
@@savvylayman I upgraded mine by changing the ram and ssd. I unplugged the battery cause it is really easy to do plus just in case I definitely didn't want to blow out anything cause I would not be able to afford another.

HELP HELP HELP PLEASEEEEEEE : I have installed an SSD Samsung 970 Evo Plus 2TB in the second slot, but the sequential speed is half of what it is supposed to be, the speed should be 3.500 MB/s but I only reach about 1.750 MB/s. According CrystanDiskInfo the transfer mode is PCIe 3.0 x2 while it support PCIe 3.0 x4. Could it be a Samsung problem ? Or is the PC that allows only 1TB SSD ?
