First discussion of the upcoming lenovo legion go 2 and the ROG ally 2. These are two of the best handheld gaming PCs of last year and we expect to see major updates in 2024.

I think they need to make these with replaceable batteries. Buy an extra one or two for your long flights/roadtrips and you are good.

Yes!!! If they are able to do this for laptops, even older smartphones, they could do it for this.

You mean exchangeable? It’d be nice if the system itself held like 5% on its own so you can exchange the batteries without having to shut down. They can make the batteries different sizes for those that don’t mind the extra weight for longer battery life.

Yes exchanable! Yes this way different size batteries could be made as well. It's also a great way for them to make more money on hardware if they choose. Since we aren't to the point where the batteries really last long enough. We will see though

Legion go 2 should focus on being locked 1080 120 fps with 4 hour battery. 30w or 10 watt. And 32gb ram . Figure out cooling solutions and if it needs to come with a power brick that would give it more power do it

Maybe in 5 years.. Microsoft needs to focus on ARM for Windows Gaming. You will get more battery, efficiency and power

Not too sure if it’s going to be TOO soon, though. Valve might be feeling the need for an upgrade the most, but they always take their sweet time… and with the other companies all missing the mark with their devices and dealing with a bunch of headache after release, I would say the wise ones will do the same. I guess we will have ayaneo jump in pretty fast, though.

I totally agree with you , such as this device should be in market at least 3 years same is going with console , but how could be ?? Legion go still new brand and many many people thinking to get it , and they want to launch new model , am really really disappointed

It’s likely going to be at least Christmas or later that we see new handhelds with those chips, and we all know the benchmarks numbers often don’t account to much in daily use. My guess is that it’s at least middle of next year that we see optimization to see meaningful benefits

Not only is the next one a long ways off it’s unlikely the performance difference in gaming will be that much of a jump if any. Don’t worry if anything you can always sell it and pick up the new one just remember there might be stock issues so even if you sell this one don’t expect to be able to just buy it immidiately.

I really hope that Phil Spencer has some pull and actually gets windows to be optimized for handheld PCs. Even he can see the shortcomings and inconveniences with windows running on such a small screen and controller

I think the most important bit is increasing the ram to 32gb. Increasing the memory to 1TB. Increasing the battery life to 6 hours on heavy gaming.

They should also give it 4k screens that run at 144hz and can play AAA titles at 120 fps on battery.

They won’t move to intel or arm. Intel chips run hot and heat reduces battery life both in the battery and by pushing the fan harder. Asus and Lenovo have both likely signed a multi year contract with AMD for handheld chips and graphics processors. ARM is an enormous shift in software, neither Steam OS nor Windows ARM will be able to run the x86 games people can currently play. ARM chips were available with all the benefits listed when all these devices originally came out and all the manufacturers chose x86.

@@onetruebrick the developers and i believe the ceo of lenovo said they are working on legion go 2 or pre development but ways away ( end of 25- early 26), close to when the steam deck 2 is supposed to be released.

If they release a LeGO2 with bigger built in storage and maybe improved battery I'd be interested. But they should stick to AMD or Qualcomm imo.

While Snapdragon is a beast, and probably more power efficient, you would be buying a gaming machine with absolutely no games. None of the windows games are currently compiled to run on Arm, and it will take for Windows to abandon x86 to see mass adoption in the gaming market. Not happening.

Would make sense for a new one to release every year. Laptops by ROG, lenova and such also release every year even if there's small changes or minimal changes.

@@JamesDude100 That's the thing, it'll be more like the release schedule of a phone, not a console. These things are supposed to be handheld consoles, right? I get they have laptop specs in them but don't consoles have PC specs in them? If they do this every year, I don't know what will happen.

Stop talking about the core ultra 7......its weaker than the Z1 Extreme in every single game tested. Using 14 cores to get 5% more multicore performance than an 8 core in cinebench is not the win you think it is.
