Well that’s gorgeous. Mona Rae is my most favouritest tune. Your parents must have adored it to name you so.

Dreamlike and mesmerizing. I like it even better than the original, which is the first Kottke I ever heard. Hanging out at a record store one night and Mona Ray started playing over the store sound system. I was instantly transfixed. Went straight to the counter and asked who it was. Walked out with Dreams and All That Stuff and it didn't leave my turntable for the next couple of months. I'm an avid guitarist but can honestly say I have an almost paralyzing inability to pull off any of Leo's material. To be able to play something close to this lovely, relaxed version of Mona Ray would allow me to die happy.

Leo Kottke and his Producer gave me a ticket to a show, on coming home from the military, in a sold out venue. It was one of the few things I looked forward to coming back from overseas. Love this guy, he is one of my heroes.

Leo Kottke has that ability to create beautiful music you can step right in and really start living inside - like living inside a room. One of my favourite "rooms" is an instrumental piece from one of his best albums : The tune "Orange Room" from his album "Burnt Lips" !

@olensoifer99014 жыл бұрын
Well, it is about 50 years since I discovered Leo! Here is a challenge for you, if you are a guitarist yourself, and think, "How could anyone possibly play like Leo?" First of all, realize that Leo himself was quite young when he achieved fame. Plus, I believe his first instrument was the trombone, NOT the guitar! Finally, look up the UWM (University of Wisconsin, Madison) Guitar program on KZfaq...and you will find a number of brilliant students who do great credit to Leo's style of playing. And...enjoy your musical journey!

Thank you Olen for taking the time to write such an informative and considered reply. I do play guitar myself, and I am a big fan of Bert Jansch, John Renbourn, Davey Graham, and other Folk music geniuses.
