In this video I am installing the blinds and lighting for the new workshop. The blinds were pretty easy but the lighting was quite complex as I wanted three lights which could be individually switched and which were positioned over the new benches. I used the Quinetic wireless system again to achieve that and added some 20mm conduit and housing for the control units. The lights themselves are Knightsbridge SUR5LED 45W LED surface mount panels putting out 4790lm each .... so nice and bright 😎

The workshop is coming together nicely! I realized recently how much I love watching simple videos like these, where people just share their work and passion for the craft without clickbait or unnesessary "entertainment" bits in them. Such content is getting harder to find nowadays, so I really appreciate your effort to film and upload these, even though you are busy with setting up the new workshop. Wishing you the best:)

I admire the fact that you have a go at this kind of work, but a little knowledge would save a whole load of work.

Meaning what, you think I did some of it wrong?

No not at all. A knowledge of building construction would allow you to have known which way the ceiling joists run made it easier to figure out a less complicated way of routing the cables. Being a builder, I have a huge amount of experience to draw on. My comment, although badly worded, was not meant as a criticism I assure you.

Just curious, are your lights/outlets 240 V or 120V ? Watching from across the pond! Good work, BTW.

240V in the UK (well, technically 230V +/- some tolerance to match Mainland Europe)

Did I miss something? When you add the other wireless switch, (near your far bench) how do you pair both switches to the same light controller? Just curious.
@Leodis.Leather
@Leodis.Leather Жыл бұрын
You can pair multiple switches to the same controller you just follow the same pairing procedure. I think each controller can be controlled by up to 10 switches if you need to (and since the switches just broadcast their ID a switch can control unlimited lights). This is one of the great things about the switches you can do one way, two way, two way and intermediate et cetera all with no wires. The examples I have done with them on video are quite simple but for example for my outside lights I have a controller on the house porch as well as a controller in the garage and I then turn all the lights connected to both controllers on simultaneously either from a switch in the house, a switch outside (because they are IP rated) or from a key fob on my keys! It’s like a Lego, you can do a lot with it :)

@@Leodis.Leather Ian, I think I got confused because you buttoned up the central box and did not show the second switch being paired. Not know how intricate opening the box up again made me think you did it befor e closing it up. Thank you. Love watching the progress.

@@bbrachman I did pair all the switches before I closed up the box yes but it's only 4 little screws if the cover does need to come off again :)
