you should ALWAYS melt or sand down the edges of cut plastic on the wet hide. not only that, but there should be two wet hides- one for each gecko as they both need their own space. additionally geckos often use moist hides for more than shedding, they'll use the hides to regulate temperature when they're too hot.

also if you cohab, you need a lot more hides than that!! at least three per gecko, so they don't fight over hides.

Make sure you screw the cabinet to the wall also!!! so the plywood to the cabinet AND THEN the cabinet to the wall or vice versa. I would not trust that. You don't want to hear a load crash in the middle of the night -but great idea in the first place. i did the same thing:)

Love the care you put into your animals enclosures. A 2 by 4 or to measured to be extra support at each corners would help extra stable the tank as to weight distribution. I worry about the geckos so much because they are so fragile. Ply wood is a weak wood for support. Great vid though and you are always so neat and clean with your animals enclosures and you make them look so cool. I like how you give them lots of area too and not just stick them in a small box like many people do. They are so nosey creatures and curious. I know they appreciate your care.

Watched the whole thing, you are articulate, knowledgeable and easy to listen to! Thank you for the education and you have a new subscriber! Fish keeping is one of my hobbies and that is part of what I watch on you tube, this video was on my recommended list and my 20 yr old son just got a Gecko so I checked it out to see if he would benefit from it and you held my attention all the way through with interesting facts.... Great Job!

As i know leopard geckos can live up to 30 years in captivity) The eldest one in Russia (where i live) is 26 years old for now)

That tank needs lifted up off the shelf for air flow, the way it's sitting on the carpet creates a fire hazard. Carpet isn't the best substrate, the fibres can wrap around toes, cutting off circulation and leading to the death of the digit, plus can pull their nails out if they get caught. Slate tile from a hardware store looks quite nice, use a thin layer of sand beneath it to fill the air gap and it creates nice even heat from an under tank heater. Also if you put the hole in the top of the humid hide it can double as a lying box, if you breed them.

The tank is lifted up. The glass doesn't touch the carpet it is lifted up about an inch and a half with plastic that has air flow slits in it. The carpet I am currently using has never wrapped around their toes or anything it actually stays very flat with out fibers coming up. I know tile is also a very good flooring to use but I use carpet and have never had an issue. Thank you though!

You also need to feed your feeders crickets and mealworms (gutload) there are tons of videos on how to do that to give the best nutrition for your reptiles.

Great video straight to the point! Also a little suggestion if you would start a daily vlog you would have a million or two mill subscribers guaranteed you have a great attitude and personality that people would just love! 👍👍

I know this is older but.... since leos don't climb walls you can tape the background to the back of the tank and they will have even more room.

Do you let your mealworms and crickets eat before feeding them? It’s better to gutload an insect before feeding them so your geckos absorb more nutrients

Im scared to feed meal worms due to the shell of them hard to digest. I do super worms instead well gut loaded with greens or a potatoe so they are well hydrated food for them.

I really love this video and think it has a lot of great information BUT, people should know that you shouldn't cohab leopard geckos, even if they're female. yes you can do it with females but there's so many things that can go wrong and it's just unnecessary stress on them. also they are probably bullying each other when you're not looking and one is usually more dominant than the other. so overall just no a good idea, most experienced leo owners will tell you not to keep them together, no matter the gender. not trying to hate at all!! I just wanted to make sure people who are new know that

Like I said in my video I highly recommend not cohabiting your leos because of aggression and because they are completely fine on there own. I however have never had a problem with them and I have never seen them bullying each other. They wouldn't change their behavior towards each other whether I am looking or not so I am very confident that they are completely fine with each other. At the first sign of any aggression though I would quickly separate them. But as you can see in the video they are very calm with each other and even take turns eating. Thank you so much for this comment though because I do agree that new reptile or gecko owners should not try this!:)
