Plastic can really harm if not kill your chins that includes plastic shelves if not covered with anti-pill fleece. Wheels and such as hould be at least 15 in in diameter

14:57 Okay so this video is very helpful but please do NOT get your chinchillas this, they can get their head stuck inside and it can hurt them, the same goes with the bars on the other hay feeder.

Does leather work as a chew for a chinchilla? Or do they hurt/ do nothing for their teeth.
@courtany7871

I wouldn’t just because they’re hindgut fermenters and that could cause a blockage. I’d stick to things like wood chew toys and hay toys.

@siennaaaabowles

Fleece is way better than bedding as it’s easier to clean. Beddings you will have to clean wayy more! Plus some of the bedding flies out of the cage.

Alot of this info is wrong. They live upto 20 years, they can't get wet because they will get mold and can have infection under the fur and on skin, they can withstand very cold Temps so freezing isn't really a worry especially when owned as a pet, 77° is wayyy to hot. 72 is pushing it, you also have a plastic hay feeder and no covers on the plastic levels and that is not good, any ingested plastic can be fatal along with paper and any type of pellet for bedding even if wood because it expands, hay balls kill, chinchillas have literally gotten stuck in them and died, it's a death trap and not worth the risk, raisins aren't supposed to be given, no fruits or veggies, just certain flowers and sprays.

I'm 40 years old and I've never actually touched his Angela. And I really want to cuz they look super soft and fluffy. But I have a hamster right now she's super soft and fluffy. But I find chinchillas very interesting because they're like a mixer like three different creatures. They look like they're part Rabbit part hamster and part squirrel. Seriously they've got a rabbit butt I have a short squirrel tail. And then they have a face of a hamster. It's odd but they're so cute though.

Idk if you still need this information, but usually they will need a companion since they’re colony animals, however I believe there are few cases where they are completely fine on their own

I would appreciate your opinion/ input . I adopted/bought a chinchilla from my job like 2 weeks ago and I was recommended the Full Cheeks Foraging diet pellets which have seeds, veggies & fruits but it’s all no sugar. I’m debating if I should switch to the oxbow pellets bc when I searched it up on google, it said they shouldn’t eat seeds, veggies and fruits.

This is an old video. Love the upgrade. The wheel (saucer) made me cringe. Not even the smallest rodent should be forced onto that. 8-12 inch upright wheel for so many reasons... Still you tried and that's wonderful to see. 😊

please do your research before actually getting an animal. spinach is bad for reptiles. so is the amount of fruits your putting into his diet. repashy crested gecko diet says "crested gecko" for a reason, its made for crested geckos. baby blue tongue skinks also need a lot of lives insects in their diet NOT a full protein supply of dog food. those bearded dragon bites are also very low on nutrients and useless to feed, and if you had done any research you would know what to feed them and what not to feed them. also the fact that the enclosure is horrible. baby blueys can be very shy and need confined places to hide and feel secure. blueys NEED uvb, that "huge window" is filtering out uv because the stuff the need from sunlight doesn't penetrate glass

@archerychick247
@archerychick247 2 жыл бұрын
There is some incorrect info in your video that will be dangerous and confusing for new owners. This comment is correction info i have learned from breeders who have been dealing with chins for years and years: They actually can live 20+ years in captivity if take proper care of. They should NEVER be in temperatures over 72°. Ever. It will kill them. And chinchillers and fans do NOT cool them down quick enough. They must have AC and MUST remain under 72° at all times. 65-68° is the most optimal temp. They can jump 6 feet. But they can die or break their bones if they fall more than 18". They are den dwellers. They need a decent sized cage. But not a TALL cage. They should have absolutely NO cardboard or paper. Ever. If eaten it expands in their stomach and kills them. They also should never have plastic because it causes blockages that can be fatal. The plastic ledge you have needs to be removed or covered in anti-pill fleece because if chewed it can kill them. The wheel you have is unsafe because its plastic. Plus chins dont need excessive exercise. It can cause heart attacks. If you have one it needs to be over 14 inches large and secured to the wall. Do NOT feed your chins ANY veggies, fruit, seeds, nuts, greens or sugars. (Free feeding, oxbow and hay info in the video was correct.) That hay rack needs to be tossed. The metal can break their legs if they get caught in it. And the plastic is unsafe to chew. Same with the metal hay ball. They can break limbs and necks if caught in it. Hay racks need to be attached on the outside of the cage for safety. The rest of your info was correct and helpful! Just wanted to correct the unsafe info for those who might be considering getting a chin. Also your chinnys are adorable!!!!
