It's easy to wonder if we're doing enough to get kids ready for next stage in their lives. In this episode, we make a case for why the best way to prepare a child for the future is to let them be exactly where they are right now. We dive into why making your 3-year-old sit still will not actually get them ready for kindergarten, why you don't need to worry about memorizing the ABCs and how the skills they're building as babies and toddlers are the foundation for everything to come. We finish up with some thoughts on school in general and a reminder that living in the present is all we can really do, anyway ❤️

As a mom of 2 that has so much childhood trauma I cherish these videos, I want to be the best for them and I love how yall talk about motherhood in the most empathetic and non judgmental way where I actually was waiting the whole time thinking I was going to hear something that made me feel like I wasn't doing something right but instead I feel so full of hope & reassurance. Thank you so much! I’m an educator and mom to an almost 5 year old. So you’re both speaking my language. Except you’re both able to articulate all of the knowledge, thoughts and feelings better than I do. 😂 I’m currently homeschooling while launching a Spanish program for a virtual school. The homeschool vs private schooling (+teaching for me) is a huge debate in my head right now thinking ahead to next year. So I appreciated the little side convo at the end there. My daughter is actually in a little Forest School twice a week, too! 💚 In Michigan though, much more abundant and affordable forests here haha. Anyways, this video felt like you took all of my jumbled thoughts and organized them and sprinkled in some new golden nuggets, too. You compliment each other so well- such a great duo! Your work is so valuable. Thank you, thank you, thank you! 💞

Loved this! I have to say, this podcast is truly one of my favorite parenting resources. I think the reason is because I always walk away feeling encouraged, and as a first time mom who tends to worry and overthink things, encouragement is much needed. And I love that it’s not a blanket encouragement in that you guys don’t sugar coat it by saying, “everything you’re doing is amazing and never change anything”, but you always provide a hope that even if there are things as a parent that I could change, I have the ability to do it while giving myself grace. Side note, you both really make an amazing team in that the passion both of you have is so evident and your unique perspectives compliment each other so well and make for an amazing podcast. You guys are just so good at what you do! Thank you so much for your content!

I’ve started listening to these in the mornings before my kids wake up and it is such an amazing way to start my days. It’s like a little pep talk of “You’re doing the best you can and you’ve got this!” So thank you for that💗 I really appreciated this one because I’m such an anxious mom that I feel like the consequences of the present and how they’ll affect the future are all I can think about so it was such a wake up call to hear that I don’t need to stress about that. Let my children be children and help them as they need💗
