I have the same net. Fixed that problem by spraying the netting with flex seal. Worked great.

Hi I have the same net also. And haven't had a chance to use it yet. I was bummed to here that it has flaws. Just wondering what kind of flex seal you used?

Nice build. They have wading floating live wells that fold down to about nothing. You could use those poles to make dock sticks

great vid brother. I have one of those nets that got thrown in a corner the first time I caught a fish with treble hooks. Can't wait to see an on the water test. I may be cutting mine up.

Looks like it will be great for a bait bucket for mud minnows for inshore salt water fishing. I would add some weight to the bottom of the net to keep it down in the water so bait didn’t swim out

I had that same stupid net. It was great while i was still at Bass Pros. Once i started catching fish it was a headache. I think i spent more time fighting with the net than fishing.

The telescopic portion could be fashioned into a push pole if a blunt tip is installed on the end. Might need to enforce the "locking" mechanism a bit but just an idea. Keep up the great work man!

You could maybe make a lure retriever with that telescoping handle. It wouldn't take much to do maybe add a hook to the end or even just cut one into it.

I tried a livewell like yours many years ago, complete with pool noodles. I wanted to use it for bait, to hold pacific greenback mackerels. Really hardy fish. But the spines, fins, tails, of the mackerel got wrapped up in the fabric (kind of like treble hooks in the beginning of your video), and the majority of them died after the first 30 minutes. I then went to the collapsible metal bait cages, which worked a little better, but the drag was unmanageable. I tried the bait tubes which were better still, but they couldn't hold too many fish, and the bait didn't remain all that lively. So I finally broke down and made a battery operated, circulating livewell, which has been working great for me for 10 years. BUT, the tankwell, as you know, then becomes unusable for anything else. I would love to see pedal kayak manufacturers, like Old Town, come up with a built in livewell, like the Malibu Stealths and X-factors. There's definitely room on my Predator PDL for one. If you can, I would love to see how your design does with bait fish (shad, or whatever kind you have). I'm wondering if the fabric on that net will behave differently. If you can also let us know about the drag, that would be really useful. If it does well, I might have to try it. I would love to free up my tankwell for something else, specifically my catch bag, when I'm fishing for big game. I have mine mounted on the bow, but it's not the most ideal place for it.

I have had several of those same nets that I used for wading and getting crawdads. I tore them up too fast so I stopped buying. I think I up cycled the pole of one of them for a light and go pro stick. I may steal this one. Looks like it might work for a good bait well for catfish bait.

Dude this is awesome. Might need some zipties to hold the noodles. Juan got my had idea so 2 heads are better than one..hint hint. Got the material you used for the rod sleeves now I'm gonna have to try this. Keep it up.

For $15, you could have bought an Eagle Claw floating fish basket.

Yep, I have used those . They are great but they are heavier and don’t fold down as good. You are still stuck with a big chain ring on your boat. And towing one of those with fish in them beside your kayak sucks because they only float so much and weigh a lot more. But yes, they do work and are usable. 👍🏼

It means nothing unless you show it in the real world application meaning on your kayak with bait or a bass in it and you are moving. I see issues based on my experience. If you have small bait or as I myself you shad or bream of at least hand size while I catfish. The pressure of the water as the kayak moves will pin your bait into whatever the back is dependent and your direction of travel thus not allowing them to move freely and thus bring in enough air to stay fresh.
