Hey i really enjoyed the video, it was brief but informative! Ive done my own research into the origins of and comparisons between the 1911 and "2011," and to be honest i have not heard the explaination that you gave before concerning the influence of race shooting as the basis for the development of the 2011. It seemed to me that 2011s were actually double stacked 1911s first developed and introduced by para ordinance as you said (and my own research agrees with you), but from the way ive heard that moniker (2011) used by at least one youtube channel i can recall, the impression i got is that they believe any double stacked 1911 is automatically a 2011 and therefore a different gun altogether. When i read about para ordinance, their canadian roots, their acquisition by Remington, and the rebranding of their guns (btw, the Remington R1 Tactical Double Stacked Threaded is the 1911 i want more than any other), i became convinced or at least highly suspicious that the name "2011" was more a term used to generalize modern innovations made to the antiquated by still very viable and competitve 1911 platform. I have never owned one myself personally, but ive shot them at the range and qualified with one for work i used to do (security) and enjoyed the 1911 immensely. Anyway, thanks again for upload

Im here out of curiosity. Everything I’ve read only ever mentions double stack and grip module, never any differences in internals. So that I understand, the only difference between a 1911 and 2011 is the double stack and grip module? 2011 marketed as a race gun when neither of those things affect speed or accuracy? We could make an argument for better grip but I’m sure you can get alternative grips for a 1911 that work well. Does a 2011 trigger feel better being slightly different?

There is a SERIOUS problem with the firearms industry and consolidation. Its a problem for more than juat consumers. Its a problem poltiically. Those few companies that are left, have way too much money to lobby. It just makes the entire industry look bad. Big companies like that will put profit above everything. And when we are talkng something as serious as guns, that can cause issues.

I still don't get it.... A 2011 is 2011 because of removable grip panels.... Aren't 1911 grip panels removable as well? So, that basically means all 1911s are 2011s, based on that definition of 2011.
