🔅Welcome🔅
My name is Niki. I am a former high school chemistry & biology public school teacher turned homeschool mom of 4 kiddos. We are a secular homeschooling family, with a laid back schooling style. I'm a busy WAHM who just tries to stay afloat some days. But we would never change a thing!
I would love to get to know you better down in the comments, and I hope you'll stay awhile and chat ❤️

I really like this idea! I have a chart of goals that I want to get done each week in our various curricula, but nothing like what we've done in the past or are doing currently.

I really think it is helpful to look at the big picture. I like to see where we are headed to make sure we cover everything we need to if they choose to go to collage. Thanks for watching!

I am thinking of offering Oak Meadow's drawing course or Graphic Design 101 by Film School for Teens for my rising 10th grader next year. We focused on entrepreneurship and driver's ed this year for our electives. If you find a good secular health curriculum let us know. It is proving to be challenging! I might use the 2nd half of the Guest Hollow Anatomy and physiology, or i might just find a textbook online and see what i can create.

We’re leaning toward Thinkwell for Algebra I. Also weighing ALEKS, but he’s enjoying the Thinkwell 30 Days to Algebra I Readiness course.

Also adding that we covered sex ed in 8th, but we’re looking at Oak Meadow’s new health and wellness course for 9th (but it’s so expensive!). Our local community college also offers Office courses at a reasonable price (and you can get certified in the different programs via a test at the end).

I’d see how ur youngest is doing in math then decide what levels she needs!!! I’ve asked my teenage daughter to do beautix potter but she’s fighting it and I feel like she could learn leadership skills!!! My company has write by numbers but we are yet to use it!!! Some of the press have used it and the homeschool kids use it!!! I got my older kids to play around with office and they use office well!!! We are discussing a possible super senior year!!! A 8th grade science is awesome!!! We did guest hollow biology and loved it!!! It looks like my older daughter has extra science credits when she’s completed or habe finished science early!!! In our state health is separate from PE!!! I think Microsoft has courses for their programs!!! Having pdfs are helping me with pulling out curriculum that I used for my older kids!!!

She is doing pretty well with math, but I can see that sometimes she doesn't understand the why behind some of the things. We will see as it gets closer to our new year. Glad to hear your daughter loves science so much! It makes my heart so happy to hear about girls in STEM! Thanks for watching!

We liked Write By Number for a bit, but my learner got very bored with it around lesson 6. There is an online subscription that is affordable. I would recommend trying it for maybe half the year before committing. I think for an older student maybe moving through at a top speed until you get to essays might work.

I had the same experience with Write by Number. My daughter got through most of Level 6 and just wanted less constraint. But it was super helpful in training her to organize her thoughts in a coherent paragraph with a logical flow. Also, it trained attention to detail because you have them correct the paragraph until it is 100 percent grammatically correct. Don't skip that part! I was tempted to, but it was really a key component. One thing I did (my child was in 7th grade at the time) was let my daughter design a sticker chart with 12 spaces. For every assignment she completed and corrected she got a sticker. Then we got donuts when it was filled up. The incentive was magic. 😀

@@elonas9487 Thank you so much for sharing this! It is really helpful for me. I now know for sure that I need to try the online subscriptions first before we make the final commitment. I love the idea of a sticker chart. My kiddos need all the incentives they can get. LOL.

May I ask what you're using for the Winnie the Pooh/B. Potter literature portion of your learning?
@Homeschoolology

Brave Writer has a dart for House on Pooh Corner. I was going to use that in conjunction with items on found on Creative Fabrica for my younger kiddos. For B. Potter, I found a few things on Etsy from FiddleSticksEd and HoneyandFables for my younger kiddos. But I had not gotten too much further in the process for that unit study.
