I’d like to see S2 a few years later with Whit going on talk shows to promote her book about staying together while being a single mom, actively perfecting her fake cry for interviews. She’s also no longer doing the HGTV show but is filming a new reality show about picking up the pieces. I’d like the kid to be just like Ash in every way, but acts opposite of him. This haunts Whit because is this what she really wanted? The curse she asked for offsets what she thought she wanted. As for Ash himself, watching like he’s is us the viewer in Sixth Sense way where he can still impact their reality but they have no idea it’s him, equating substances to a weird situation. Finally for Dougie I’d like to see more focus on him. He’s total disassociated with Whit’s new show, but still blaming himself. He thinks he’s the curse now and is overly paranoid.

Unfortunately, I don’t think Nathan Fielder, Benny Safdie, or even A24 would go for most of these ideas. A24 has never done sequels and something that turns into a long-running mystery box-type series doesn’t seem like something any of these people are even interested in. The characters in the Curse, I feel, were left where they needed to be. I don’t need to see redemption or comeuppance for Whitney or Dougie, or some weird Asher or Asher jr. twist. And I just don’t see the creators going in that direction. In that interview, Safdie said that he had a fascination with reality TV and Nathan came in with the curse concept. I think those two elements are the real core of what The Curse is about and if they do a Season 2 it would only carry over those two elements. So, what I can see realistically happening for a season two is in the vein of an anthology series a la True Detective with an entirely new cast and the through line being this very subtle “curse” element, but with premise of exploring a different type of reality TV format. Perhaps something in the vein of Nightcrawler, where it’s a small team of paparazzi or ambulance chasers, and they are towing the line of interfering with manipulating a crime scene, or reporters manipulating truth in reporting… …or, just something more low key like a cooking show or a reality game show, or even a dating show!

Somehow they'd have to do a major time jump. Or at least, a short recap of 5 to 10 years of baby Asher's life. The challenge will be finding a child actor who's cringy enuf to play the part.

The curse should definitely be a anthology series. I’d like to see something wildly different. Move away from espanola and focus on new weird characters in a different setting

I've been thinking about Asher coming back as a ghost and a metaphor for having an estranged parent. It could be like at the hardware store with his "friend". I definitely want to see Whitney's rise as Green Queen and all the consequences of what they did to their first city as she works in a new city.

Same cast, different story. Let's go. Also the tone and visual style really reminds me of David Lynch films and Inside No. 9.

Ever since the show Lost (maybe it was even done before that?) it's perfectly feasible for killed-off characters to return in future episodes in the form of a flashback or even an alternate reality. Asher could even come back as a ghost or strange entity, too. Or as you suggest, as the baby. Maybe we, the audience, would see the baby as only Whitney sees him-- as a literal baby but with Asher's face (like, everyone else just sees a normal baby). Lots of opportunities for comedy and horror!

I absolutely loved The Curse, and your videos are some of the best on youtube. But after that finale I think The Curse needs to end and become legend as we know it will. I personally don't need a season 2. I'd rather Nathan go do something new.

I just finished ... True Det.: Night Country. And for me, it was a perfect series finale. Plus, the Inupiaq world is fascinating in this series. Now about the Curse. My theory, that it was all just a dream, doesn't seem to have caught on. Oh well. Having Asher's doppelganger show up and act as if everything is normal is pretty awesome too. My only question is. What's Dougie going to be like? He's gotta be destroyed as a person. I can see him becoming THE most rundown alcoholic that ever existed. But then Asher returns. Holy cow! If we thought Dougie was even the slightest bit remorseful for having been such a dick to Asher his entire life. Just how can Dougie manage Asher's return? How does he make it up to thim? Or does Dougie view new Asher as his own personal curse? Or does he see him as an imposter and schemes to prove that new Asher is a fraud?

I’ll need to check out this latest true detective season? Would you want a video? Yeah I love this take about dougie what an interesting concept, season 2 probably unlikely but all these ideas are so cool I did see on the reddit paramount was surveying people asking if they would want a season 2 and whether that would keep people subscribed!
@Stress-Free-K5 ай бұрын
@@marshallstannus Well that poll has gotta be 110% pro-Curse S2. And that's why I feel Paramount will back another season. Cuz they really don't have any breakout hits of their own. They need Nathan and Benny to create content. Definitely do a Night Country review. I think you'll even want to do specific episode videos cuz there's so much get into. Plus, the Inupiaq native lore plays a huge factor in the plot. And gives the entire production an otherworldly quality similar to the Curse but even more so.

Season 2 takes place now that Douggie is an established showrunner and he's filming a reality show on contacting the dead in rural Louisiana. (10 years later) He has an 'army' of grifter/scam psychic artists down there, and he's almost a crime boss in this regard. He's fully invested in scamming folks who try to contact their dead relatives, and he does it on his horror/reality streaming service. He ends up seeing the ghost of his wife in a graveyard, which forces him to track down an actual psychic who he thinks is scamming him, but he's not sure. He becomes obsessed with finding a real psychic so he can figure out how to make peace with his ex wife. The psychic says the only way to put his dead wife to rest is to 'find the child of a lost friend (Nathan/Whit's son) and make him your own son.' For this to work, he has to spin up an insane web of lies so Whitney doesn't notice him creeping in. He creates a fake summer camp focused on Data Analysis (Nathan's son took after his dad) to lure him to the swamp, where Douggie can attempt to discreetly gain the child's trust, securing his role as a father figure. Once that's sorted, he can sort out his wife, get rid of some of his guilt, and ditch the kid (spoiler alert: they are very similar to each other and grow attached) . In the meantime , he must dodge Whit and her private detective, "Troy" (played by Alan Resnick), and keep his corrupt mafia of bogus psychics paid off so they don't turn on him. Douggie has a straight ponytail this round and he is deep in the NFT world.

U rule dude, also things can get really crazy in season two if Dougie starts sensationalizing what happened to Asher at the end. Part of me thinks it’s in his characters nature to do this, but I also think he did blame himself so maybe he’d hide the footage from guilt. I highly doubt s2 will happen given the ending but I want more
@marshallstannus6 ай бұрын
Totally agree man, what a great idea you’ve had! Thanks so much for the support!
@o__o15446 ай бұрын
Kinda sad that Asher is gone because he was the only one who really even had genuine moments of self improvement, (understanding caras art, whistleblowing on the casino, gifting the house) idk if I could stomach a whole season of Dougie and Whit lmfao. Although dougie chilling with reborn Asher would be funny and wholesome in a weird way. I hope they show if the curse itself is due to someone imagining harm on someone else (Nala, Dougie) or if it was all the gentrification and damage to the community they caused that caused manifested into a more tangible super natural evil.
@o__o15446 ай бұрын
The way whit has no problem with the dead birds around the mirror house like that’s a bad omen If there a s2 I think she probably won’t make it out alive, maybe sucked into the atmosphere maybe there’s something more fitting for her idk I think about this show too much lmfao
