Of all things I see what you use for erasures and I see you use what I use, including that Pantel eraser! I like the gum erasers as well because you can use it without fully get any shavings off of it. You can always dab at the paper to lift any excess stuff off the eraser. BTW, your sharing this information IS teaching, so keep on teaching!!

As someone who inks his own pencils, this is super useful Miss Hope. I already have a Koh i Noor kneaded eraser that comes in a plastic case to keep it clean, but i never could find a regular block one that didn't fade, smear, or leave a tonne of shavings. So thanks a lot!

Kneaded eraser is easily my favorite. If you don't scrub, but instead rock it gently it can be so much more friendly on the wrist.

I talked with Tex Blaisdell way back in the day when he was my instructor and he said for really deep pencil marks he used to use rubber cement. He said while he was inking on Batman a penciler used to chisel the pencils into the board so much that the erased pencil lines were picking up on the photostat. So to remedy that h said he would cover the page in rubber cement, rub it off and it left the pencil just visible enough to ink.

Stadtler makes a good vinyl eraser if you're having trouble finding the Pentel version. I believe they should be very similar.

Hi, I highly recommend everyone to try Koh-i-noor kneading eraser (the 6421 or 6422)... They are not that soft and not like the a putty, they still feel very much like classic rubber and you have to kneed them for a little while to soften them up to your liking, but after that, they are incredible. Best eraser I have ever had. Highly recommended.

Sandra, don't sell yourself short, you are a great teacher! Take it from someone who's awful at it. I looked at the Caran D'ache brand, whoo boy, those are some expensive stationeries!

when inking I dislike erasing so much that I started drawing with blue line pencils and printing the pencils on fresh bristol boards. It's pronounced Caran D'ash, the e at the end is silent.

In your experience, does the kneaded eraser leave an oily residue that repells ink? Or any other products that a penciler might use that would cause any grief for the inking stage? Thank you!
