Join us as we try more Filipino food in Los Angeles! In this episode, we make the short drive up to Pasadena to visit Chaaste Family Market. Wow, this place had some incredible offerings!! From delicious chicken adobo, to the best turon we've ever had...amazing. We topped off the experience with the craziest (and best) halo-halo we've ever tasted. The simplest meaning of "halo-halo" is "mixed of everything". In Tagalog, mixing is "hinalo" or "pinag-hahahalo". So Pinoy should stop instructing foreigners to mix everything because there is no Constitution requiring them to do that. I for one, I usually eat the ice cream first because I don't like the flavor of ice cream to blend in.

Christian Esteban was actually a teen actor here in the Philippines. He had movies and shows here. He was a part of Starstruck , reality tv star search in one of the networks here. It's nice to see that he is thriving in CA.

Christian if I’m not mistaken used to be an actor here in the Philippines. He’s a product of a reality show called STARSTUCK… He was one of the favorites contestant before. I watched until the end to see if you guys used some dips for the longganisa and the chicken BBQ. both taste good with vinegar ( with black pepper, a lil soy sauce, and garlic)

YES! It is Christian! We had no idea when we arrived and ordered. He was so nice to us and let us know the history of the restaurant and his favorite dishes to order. Unfortunately we didn't use any dips, but we hope to go back and eat even more food! Thanks so much for checking out our channel!

Those are not corn flakes. We call them pinipig which is a flattened rice ingredient from the Philippines. It is made of immature grains of glutinous rice pounded until flat before being toasted. It is commonly used as toppings for various desserts in Filipino cuisine, but can also be eaten plain, made into cakes, or mixed with drinks and other dishes.

Awesome. I have great respect for foreighners who try and can eat more than 2 bites of dinuguan. Dinuguan is one of my fave food, turon with jack fruit is my go to snack here in the philippines. Glad you liked the food guys.

As a native who grew up around those dishes, I would say that this couple is genuine when it comes to describing the flavors. Just one thing though, you have to really mix the Halo-Halo to enjoy it. It may look like it will overflow, but it wouldn't. One last thing that might be untraditional even to Filipinos, I love my Turon cold and not crispy. You have a free ticket to spit it out if you don't like it 'coz my mother doesn't either. I'm messed up, you know, what can I say. 😅 More power to you two. Goodluck! 🥰

Thank you for sharing this. I never knew there was a Filipino store/market right off the 210, and what looks like Allen (?). I’ve driven through there lots of times, but apparently I never noticed it. I usually go to Glendale or Eagle Rock for Filipino food. Yeah, dinuguan is one of my favorites! Depends who makes it, but theirs looks really good.
