Hi there! Many thanks for this video but where did you find the black conductive for dpad? I ordered on retroid and it's the default dpad :(

I love the clicky switches, I couldn't imagine getting the mushy ones for this kind of device. But it's nice to have replacements just in case regardless!

The clicks on these were good but i didn't like the travel, good thing is these don't feel mushy. -Aish

I have some interesting ideas about buttons in retro devices (both handhelds and controllers). I feel like, besides the ergonomics, also the options to swap or customise the buttons ON THE FLY is paramount. Wouldn't be exciting be able to swap A/B/X/Y on the go and maybe even changing them with A/B/C/D or 1/2 and two blanks (for things like SMS, NES etc.)?

I think there's a controller like that with GameCube, N64 and standards layouts.

Are you able to tell me if this system (RP3+) has custom button mapping? I know individual emulators will offer mapping but outside of any specific emulator, can the system itself let me press B as A and A as B? (they are reversed from say, Xbox) 10+ years of usage has my muscle memory in tune with that as *forward* and *back* Great informative video, thanks!

Yes it does you can switch to Xbox mode in the handheld settings

How hard do you think the shell swap / board upgrade for the 3+ will be?

Not very the buttons looks to be the hardest part, and as you can see in the video it's not even that bad. The hardest part is getting that ribbon cable in on the left side, but if you're taking everything apart the battery won't be in the way so it gets a lot easier. -Aish

Great video! My RP3+ has conductive buttons, but dome dpad. Will the conductive board and parts that came with the RP3 work with the RP3+?

I wish the membrane dpad are still available. I dont like the clicky dpad, doesn't feel retro to me. The used RP3+ that i won a bid on ebay had a broken L trigger, opened it up and found the thin plastic connecting to the hinge is broken causing the button to fall and become loose. So I took the extra foam off the power button and stuck it on the L trigger, good as new.

I am sure you already found the missing foam pad but it was stuck to the original button daughter board when you pulled it out

shouldn't you unplug the battery first once you have access to it ?

Normally i would but for some reason retroid glued the connection, I'm sure i could have taken it off but decided not to force it, besides i did the swap a few times and never noticed anything strange with the inputs, just make sure the system is off and it should be fine. -Aish
