That bush you keep pulling up is a Privet. It has black berries in the winter the birds love but it spreads EVERYwhere! Lol it used to be a common hedge plant. But it requires a lot of maintenance

Years ago I had training in NC and during a break, everyone from my company was standing out under a covered entrance watching it thunderstorm. The lecturer was amused when we explained we have 360 sun shinny days a year and to see this much rain coming down and the fresh ozone smell was simply marvelous.

👍Really nice project. Looks like that full depth breach was a blessing in disguise as it let at least some of the mud drain off and allow vegetation root systems to grow and give you supported access for clearing. Thanks for sharing.

That what you call an unknown bush looks like Privet hedge. Chris - the Pond Master to the rescue of another old Carolina pond. That breach looks like a knife cut thru a bread loaf. Still looks like the apartment complex pond mud dredging from last year only with lots of growing plants and tall grass (Weeds).

Just amazes me how that vegetation floating on two foot of goop can act like a mat UNTIL you get rough and tear it. Chris is so smooth that he makes it happen, but some other guys would sink out of sight. Or at least through all of the goop til something solid. Near a spring that could be quite deep. Chris is definitely the man for this job no doubt.

My guess after seeing the drone video, is that someone decided that they didn't want to deal with maintenance, so they just breached the dam and let it go wild. But then I suppose that's a common theme for the pond repair jobs you work on.
