first time seeing someone adding custard to a banitsa. The beauty of it is the crunchy outer layer that wouldnt form if u pour so much liquid. Also your filo sheets were quite thick and seems very sticky, maybe differs from the traditional sheets used

You should definitely try the other variants of banitsa which are patatnik (with potatoes) and prazenik (with leek). There are also many other salads, dishes and deserts with which our country takes pride with.

@@leventekorpics4112 well in Bulgaria the sheets aren't stuck together like in the video...they have a thin layer of flour so that it doesn't stick ...so i guess depends on the brand? You can also make it yourself...it is just hard...as far as i remember the resepy for the dough is just flour, water and lil salt(i might be wrong) ...the hard part is you have to make it as thin as possible....some even make it so thin you can put a sheet of paper under it and you can somewhat read it

You are doing it wrong... You need eggs, salty feta cheese and little bit of milk. Also you need to make the Banitsa with filo pastry and then you roll it up in a baking tin. The last step is to spread a scrambled yolk on top and bake until golden. This is one simple recipe for Banitsa and it's very delicious. 11/10

Thank you for featuring България! 🇧🇬 There are other tasty dishes, but I figured баница would be the first thing most people would try. Кебапчета is another good one that my husband gets at every Bulgarian restaurant, but that's literally just assorted, seasoned meat. 😅 Not a ton of variety - meat, bread, yogurt and cheese (the Bulgarian kinds) basically make up most of the recipes. But they are good 😋

I am from Bulgaria and honestly if you came here you would taste it like 100 times better I mean even the products make the taste and the texture different even though it's close it's not the same but still it's really good 😊

Banitza is really good with a drink made from bulgarian yogurt, specifically bulgarian since it has a special bacteria that gives it a distinct ✨ twang ✨

Yeah аиран it’s really good and very easy to make. I’m sure there are different ways to make it, but I just gradually add cold water to yogurt. It’s better than it sounds
