It's crazy because I knew he was a fully grown adult in the early 2000s when I was young, but even though I'm a fully grown adult now my brain cannot accept that he'd still be 20 years older than me. Apparently the universe agrees and just stopped aging him at some point

The difference between “favourite” and “favourites” is that the plural form implies the existence of other, equally liked films, where as the singular implies that they are his top four favourites

I live in the same Irish city that Cillian is from. You’d see him up the park with his kids and some friends. Always seemed to be happy group. Though those times were about 10 years ago, when my own kids were also small. We wouldn’t bother him, people just left him alone with his family.

I'm french, and I can tell you this movie is one of the greatest art work produce on screen in our country. The issues portray are so well depicted and multiple decades later so relevant, it's almost like a national geographic documentary. No kidding, greatest social satire produce for us

Met him when i worked in an airport bar in dublin many many years ago. Was probably around the time he did batman. I can honestly say hes probably one of the nicest people ive ever met. Just a nice down to earth guy

Even if his kids were little younger, there’s a delicate balance of protecting vs exposure to the real world. I thank my parents from not hiding certain films from my at a young age - you gotta dispel the curiosity or else that leads to kids getting into trouble

"La haine" or how to illustrate that when faced with "life's unfair. Deal with it", poor uneducated people relieve their frustration and rage by falling a spiral of self destructive petty violence. And that it's nobody's fault, that's just life being unfair. You sure you want a kid to réalise that amount of hopeless powerlessness is possible? Well, for what it's worth, having grown up in the 90's Parisian suburbs, and having witnessed first hand the real life version of "the hate" in my early teens, I wish I didn't. The real world can wait. It will do its damage soon enough. Let kids be kids.
