The Leupold VX-3i scope is new, better, and cheaper! It is approximately $200 cheaper than previous VX3 models and the 3.5-10x40 that I reviewed, retails for approximately $700 here in Australia. The scope performed well with no issues, be sure to check out the new VX-3i line at NIOA: www.nioa.com.au

I have his scope, I really like the light management, very clear, great hunting scope. Likely not for the person who is dialling in ELR regularly, there are scopes more suitable for that, but this is my fav hunting scope.

We've sent our scopes back to have them put on micrometers on both elevation and windage, which makes a quicker adjustment without caps and their considerably more accurate, and with a BDL. However, if you need an illuminated reticle, Leupold doesn't offer it in a Front Focal Plane as does everyone else!!...People don't seem to know this.

Hello Ozzie, and thank you for the good review 😊 For mountain hunting, so shots up to around 300 meters or so, would you recommend this scope or perhaps go for the vx3i 4,5-14x 40 instead? Thanks a bunch in advance :)

I have the vari -x 3- 3.5 x10 mm mounted on my ruger no.1 in 25-06 rem .light transmission at dusk and down is pretty good I've not had too make a shot that late in the evening yet I've had it four years now drop a deer @ 100 yards at day light this year though and I wasn't disappointed but I'm in need of a scope for a new ruger left hand 25-06 a recent purchase. gorgeous rifles by the way a those rugers and I'm looking at Leopold one agian I'm all about simplicity I like the fine cross hair s over the duplex ones I aim better with.but light transmission is key for me and of course reliability and Leopold reigns in those quiltys but I have too mention vortex as well they too offer a lot with a lifetime warranty even if you are at fault they still replace it, its good too have options but for now I'll stick with Leopold. as a rule I always let any new products sit on on the market awhile and get the kinks out .

Hi Ozzie, do you think this scope in this magnification would be sufficient to do target shooting with a 223 between 200 and 250 yards
@calangel
@calangel 5 жыл бұрын
I had a chance to look through one of these, and it actually looked pretty good. Better than the 4.5-14x50, actually. The image on the ocular lens looked bigger on this one. But to be honest, the 30mm tubbed VX-R had a much better experience for me... It just brought up to the eye so much better. Far easier target acquisition on the VX-R, plus it's got a firedot.

isnt that a rimfire scope ?
@calangel
@calangel Жыл бұрын
@@808fishman8 no, the VXR is more catered towards hunting and tactical use, think on a DMR rifle. If you mean the vx3i, then that's general use hunting.

I like and use Leupold scopes myself. They're a great all around optic with good warranty and service. But to say they're "Rugged" I'd really have to disagree. They're a typical, somewhat delicate and fragile scope. Tough would be something like lets say the Zeiss MC, Kahles Helia, Swarovski ZF or IOR 4x hunting scope.....Even the old Weaver K4 is pretty tough in comparison. Complaining aside, great review and channel. Your farm reminds me quite a bit of the strip mined regions around my home in SE OH.

hey ozzie can we have a review of it at night under the spotlight maybe even next to a vx3 or another scope. Would love your input on how it would look at night
@ozziereviews
@ozziereviews 8 жыл бұрын
There wouldn't be enough footage to make an entire review of it in the night-time. How much light it picks up will depend on the power of the spotlight, but I will look at incorporating some night-time spotlight footage in future scope reviews

Vortex glass isn't bad, I own a few. However, if you move your scope around it looks like the earth is jello... hard to explain without showing someone. Also the vx3 is leaps above for low light pickup compared to the vortex equivalent. I used to be a die hard vortex guy, own their hats, multiple scopes etc.. however after hunting with my father in law and looking through his scope at dusk compared to my vortex 3x9 it was no comparison. His was WAY better at low light. His glass is also better in every way during daylight.
@roadapple66
@roadapple66 6 жыл бұрын
I like Vortex, and own a few, but if you want glass as nice as this Leupold; you have to get one from the Viper line. If you want better glass from Vortex, you have to get one of the Razor line scopes that uses very good quality Japanese glass. This will be much more $$$. The Diamondback and Crossfire are budget optics. Also, like Ozzie said, Leupold is made in the USA. Vortex is made in Asia. I do not know where Leupold gets their glass, but (except for the Razor line, which sources their glass from Japan) Vortex gets their glass from the Philippines. This includes their nice Viper line. I have been told that no US optics maker grinds their own glass in the States; due to the EPA restrictions. However, Leupold builds their scopes in Oregon, USA. I have two Leupold hunting scopes, two Vortex Viper PST tactical scopes, and 3 Vortex red dot optics. I like all of my optics very much, but if I could afford to do so; all of my riflescopes would wear a gold ring around the objective. I cannot afford to even entertain the thought of having top quality European glass on my rifles, but I do not feel "under-scoped" with what I have. Cheers!

Good review Ozzie. Two questions please. 1. Is it as bright in LOW LIGHT as the equivalent Leupold VX 6? What percentage better would the equivalent power Z6i or Z8i Swarovski be?
@ozziereviews

I don't have a VX6 to compare it with but I have used the Swarovski and they are an ultra clear optic, but the VX3i Leupold isn't at that level but it's not far from it.

@ozziereviews
@ozziereviews 7 жыл бұрын
I don't think you quite understand how the CDS dial works. It doesn't matter what calibre it is mate, you provide them with all the info and the CDS dial gets made to the specs, so to answer your question, yes, but you need to understand how it works, it's not a pre-ordered, pre-made dial just for certain calibres, it's a complete CDS system that you can get tailor made for any calibre that you provide all the parameters for if that makes sense?
