What a top self-effacing bloke Phil is! Great interview. Personally I think he is up there with the best drummers out there like Gadd, Vinny, Weckl and Hakim and his snare sound was epic! Good luck Phil and condolences to you and your family for the loss of your brother.

Level 42 with Phil was beyond all other levels. Phil inspired Me to go to next level in listen to music and play the drums better.

Brilliant interview love Level 42 saw phil play drums at Norwich U E A on the World Machine tour 1983 he was Awsum Great drummer great memories 👍🏼 DW NORFOLK U.K.

Love him! I came across the album 'Watertight' while looking up what each band member had been up to, about 8 years ago and it (that album) has been a revelation - I go back to it again and again. One of my all time fave albums - incredible emotion and inventiveness.

I loved Level 42 until the Gould brothers left. When I heard their new single in the pub I thought" This isn't Phil and Boon" I was fortunate to see them at Wembley in 87 . Phil is my favourite drummer and he's a very nice bloke. You should check out his solo albums. Level 42 are a mere shadow of what they were now.

"... this isn't Phil and Boon..." YES. BUT. Did you also have the reaction I did when you first heard Forever Now? I remember hearing it on my clock radio in the morning and sitting up straight in bed, saying out loud, "Phil's back!"
