Great videos. Try a fleece liner to get rid of the plastic feel. Will also give you a few more degrees of comfort. We use them in the humid climate here in the swamps of SW Louisiana, USA. Also helps out if your bag gets damp. Stay Safe and Healthy.

Bought the same bag about a month ago. Tried it out indoors overnight with the windows open and ended up with the zipper down as I was roasting. Does feel really slippy inside but will get used to it over time. Subscribed to your channel as well.

Best not to store synthetic bags compressed either. They can lose half their loft after only a few weeks of compression. Think about how a synthetic bag has been stored at the warehouse/shop since it was made, that might make a season’s difference or more. The lightest, finest synthetic fill is the most susceptible, while the older, coarser, heavier stuff is tougher.

Hey, hope you are well 😁 the leviathan is my favourite bag, very toasty, been using it for over a year now 👌 just a couple of tips for you, the compression sack is pretty rubbish, and I ended up binning mine and using a dry bag, with it being a down bag you can compress it very small this way to save space in your bag 👌 also with it being down you will need some good insulation underneath you either a good mat in your tent or an underblanket in a hammock, as without due to the down being compressed by your body you will get cold spots. I ALWAYS used to use my old German Army issue sleeping bag .it's filled with duck down,it's EXTREMELY WARM, waterproof..BUT it got lost somehow when I had to move house .it was heavy but well worth it..

I have a Wiggy's lamilite bag that is bombproof, but very bulky to pack. Last year I bit the bullet and bought an overstuffed Katabatic Flex 20 quilt - eye wateringly expensive but perfect for camping in the snow. Buy once cry once, as they say.

Hi Claire Great channel you have here. I have the very same bag that I've used in -7 to -9 degrees and I couldn't fault the bag at all...lovely and toasty. One camping trip I did was cautley spout waterfall in the snow and I was that hot I had to strip to my shorts and vest even though it was freezing outside. You can't go wrong with that bag along with a good four-season sleep mat. Hope I'm not telling you how to suck eggs (parden the expression) but keep the bag in the bigger storage bag when not in use to keep the inner down insulation lofted. so many people use the compression sack to store the bag and ruin the insulation. Well I think that answered my questions 😂, I too have the mountain warehouse 250 summit. That’s been my go too bag for every trip so far. I don’t really want to be restricted though if I fancy a winter camp so perhaps the oex leviathan is the one 🤔 although would be a first having a down bag.

I’ve used mine for a couple of over night wild camps on Dartmoor past two weekends. Very cosy and I actually had to take a couple of layers off as I was too hot! Great bit of kit

I wear vermals, umpteen T-ee shirts couple or so jumpers, a fur lined jacket, puffa jacket and a rain proof long jacket and a set of waterproofs and a survival bag when I'm off on my travels in winter and a shoulder bag. I sometimes use my long jacket as a blanket. Travelling light. 🤣🤠🙏

Just bought one myself. Can also say it has a weird burned smell and soooooooooo many loose feathers due to loose stitching.

Better to use a silk liner in either type of bag fill in my opinion.

I move about too much in my sleep to have a mummy bag, I either end up wriggling out of them or trying to strangle myself as I sleep! I use a Snugpak navigator basecamp and then take it up to a four-season with a liner and the Snugpak jungle blanket.

I had the same ,don't trust the rating of the bag till you've had a night out in it eh ,I use a snug pack jungle blanket ,it packs small and it's proper warm too ideal for an add on when it get a bit colder than you thought.

I don't plan on using the stuff sack, but I managed to squish it down so much that the straps were almost fully tightened, so you can definitely get it down more if you out some welly into it.

Thanks for the tip, had purchased the sleeping bag that was two up from the Leviathan, forgot the name it was blue, not the red, ok went back the go outdoors and they swapped it for the yellow one and only charged me another £19, I was shocked I told them I put a touch on inside the bag at night, I did actually and could see where the feathers were not, mostly along the sides where the zip was so this would have been a cold spot, they were fine, and so thanks. PS i started long distance walking by doing smaller walks for ages and one day someone invited me on the coast to coast so joined the long distance walking club to get the miles in and it worked, got a good Rooksac jack wolfskin Denali 65 Men, had a different one for years and still have it but wanted a new one as you do. compared it to some other brands but found this rook sac (sorry about the spelling dyslexic) more comfortable due to the padding and the fit, the site does not really do it justice. have fun and thanks, take a look and let me know what you think, they do a ladies fit as well www.jack-wolfskin.co.uk/denali-65-men/2008451-6350.html

Sleeping bag temp. ratings should be used as a rough guide rather than as recommendations. Also forget the Xtreme ratings, they're fantasy & consider the comfort temp. as the minimum temperature you would want to use it in. Men & women have different metabolisms & so, in general, feel the cold differently & since the temp ratings are based on a young male of aveage build, in good health, having eaten well & not tired or dehydrated,, iin a tent & on good ground insulation... is is advisable to subtract 5°C from the temp. rating when choosing a bag for women. For example if a bag claims a comfort rating of 0°C . it should be considered as 5°C for the fairer sex. Everyone is different of course but it is easier to speak of generalities rather than individuals. Good sleeping bag liners will add another season or around 5°C to the insulative properties of a bag.

Very funny the end bit, I like oex as I have one think mines the 400 and is nice but mines rated to 0deg, I'm looking to get a snugpak merlin whick has comfort to - 7 but thay and my snugpak jungle blanket will be fine down to - 15. Anything colder I'll be in my bed lol

Clare I’ve a question, how warm is that mountain summit? I’ve been given one and I’d like to try it out, but I’m not sure if I should wait for spring/summer. I’ll be hammock camping, as opposed to tenting (I just wanted your experience with using one)
