@@brettgoucher8783 undecided. I like CC's philosophical approach ("no big deal" in public, "they've created a monster" in a private tweet her coach leaked, ugh). but the girl needs a break. and the Fever needs a new coach. and maybe the WNBA needs a new structure, that supports the players better. and the media DEFINITELY needs a new narrative, instead of the old "feud! beef! hatred!" BS. that CC never feeds in to, to her credit. but I suspect you think I'm just another starry-eyed CC fan, who believes she's GOAT, and should be allowed to win at everything. CC doesn't think that: she just wants to make whatever team she plays on, better. and help grow women's basketball. if that includes the Olympics, fine. this year, or 2028, whichever.

@@outsidethegarden I think the so-called starry eyed Clark fans are like the general people who back, during the days of smallpox, all knew that the cow-maids did not get smallpox. This led Jenner to develop the first smallpox vaccine. People are smart. They know quality and truth when they see it. Clark has greatness. You don't have to be a basketball expert to know that. Ordinary people know, sometimes, before the experts. However, I don't care what or any medals or awards she gets. I prefer she NOT be on the Olympic team. I don't care one whit that she is an All Star--however, if they are going to play the USA Team, that does create an interesting game, and her playing alongside Reese is interesting, too.

People can say what they want, positive or negative about Clark. The defensive intensity against her has been very high, including and since her first game. I'm no coach, but it seems pretty clear that until Caitlin plays with teammates who can consistently score to pull some of the defensive targeting off her, and plays in an offensive scheme that creatively leverages her skills, she's always going to be the key to beating whatever team she's playing for. As primary ball handler , makes sense for her to be the focus to disrupting the offense . Watching Sky games, makes me wonder if the opposing teams are even trying to get rebounds . Reese was has been a lot more patient of late and it has helped her game. Her fg% is up and she has been avoiding early foul trouble. It was pulling the team down. By just making those layups She has helped her teams efficiency and forced other teams to respect her presence near the paint. Now she has enough gravity to pull at least 1 defender away from the rim so Carter can Iso her defender with a good quick outside step. By Reese not getting into foul trouble early she is able to maintain the same intensity through the game and play soft to stay in the floor in the 4th. It has made a big difference for her team. Neither the offense nor the defense goes through her. She just had to play her role well enough to free up her team mates. She is doing that while making sure to make her easy bucket opportunities. Once CC's teammates are able to be consistent enough to pull a defender it will open the fever offense. Teams are committing super hard to trapping CC and daring the other players to beat them. If they can get that going they might have a real shot in the playoffs instead just fighting to participate in them.

You didn't play the part when he said Clark is guarded like CRAZY to the point guarding her forgot how many free throws she has. Question for you could you please check Angel Reece's shot chart and see how many points she has scored outside the paint, I know I have watched 11 games and haven't seen one yet. I saw on Twitter that Clark has assisted or scored 39.4% of the total points for the fever. Tonight I watched the Lynx vs Sun game and Thomas had 13 assists and they were basic small passes absolutely nothing like the passes Clark does where fans go omg because she's guarded so hard like people gotta see regular games and then how Clark is guarded it's honestly like the flag football compared to the UFC. Also Collier got hurt and I think it's bad, and that coach has had issues with Clark's fans so if Clark is the first alternate does she go or will the coach still take Collier and just not play her and how will fans feel about that. Please like do some real commentary not just a basic retweet of what's going on with your opinion. For instance, Clark has played angel many times, in college when angel played for Maryland and also even in highschool not just the natty in 2023 like come on, be deeper than just click bait posting Clark on something doing 10+ vids getting 20+40k views like I am sure it's paying off but keep it real and it will grow more

I don't believe Lexi Brown has access to other teams scouting reports, she can only speak about the Sparks. Today, the legendary Lisa Leslie, came out strong in Angel's defense. Angel actually has the respect and admiration of current WNBA superstars like Wilson and Charles in addition to a growing list of legends. Reese is the best rookie and the current and past superstars of the game think that to. Mick, the difference between Clark's and Reese scoring averages are 2.8 points per game. Reese average is in the teens, just like Clark's, so Reese, offensively, is doing excellent for a rookie, you're being too critical of her. Secondly, Clark has the ball in her hands all the time and Reese doesn't, which makes a difference.

I have to point this out on every single page I comment on: she isn't just a scoring guard. have you ever watched ANY of her games at Iowa? (yeah I know, "that's college ball, it doesn't have anything to do with the pros." maybe not, but it demonstrates (a) her skills, and (b) her goals as a point guard.) she's all about the assists. check her stats. she's a shooter, and that helps her game and the team -- but even if she doesn't lead in scoring, she keeps trying, in order to get better. and meanwhile, she always leads in assists. leads her team, and leads the league. that's part of what offense does: is assist. create opportunities for her teammates to score. builds their confidence and morale, and builds viewership and commitment to the team. as opposed to just shooting. not her number one priority.

I focused on Reese in her last couple of games. She was rarely guarded at all. If she's 10 ft from the hoop, they don't pay any attention to her at all. The only time anyone actually guards her is when she posts on the block. When the other team doubles a Chicago player or leaves someone to help out, it's ALWAYS the defender on Reese that leaves her to double team or help out. She out hustles everyone for rebounds but no one views her as any kind of offensive threat. Aside from offensive rebound put backs, of course. I still have tremendous respect for how hard she plays. It's just hard to compare them when one is the TOTAL focus of the other team, touches the ball 90% of the time, and runs the entire offense, forget about being the top of every teams scouting report and the other is a role player that rebounds.

And they are doing a great job at suppressing her due to her lack of a deep bag. She cant dribble, she cant drive to the basket strong, she complains to the refs more than Luka Doncic(And thats my guy), she doesnt have a mid range game & all she can do is shoot the 3 off the pin down screen fading left, Not hard to stop her. Oh and BTW, SHE CANT GUARD! Her court vision and passing is great though but not good enough to win ROTY over Reese who is currently breaking records as a rookie and on an 11 game double double. And before anyone says she doesnt have a great team she has two other Allstars on her team in Mitchell and Boston. Boston won ROTY last season and this team should be playing through her. CC will get better but she will be a great role player in The W at best.
@outsidethegarden
@outsidethegarden 5 күн бұрын
she does have great teammates. but what she doesn't have, and you skimmed past, is a team that will work with her strengths around playmaking. (and a coach.) your point is valid, that's probably not enough to make ROTY (though the assists will count, and Reese doesn't have that) -- but yes, if we're talking double-doubles, Reese looks like the ROTY. but I don't agree that the team should be playing through AB. DEFINITELY don't agree CC will be "a great role player at best." have you ever watched an Iowa game? (yes I know, "that's college, it doesn't have anything to do with the pros." but it shows her potential, and her preferred style. so adapt that to the pros.) because that's what many of us fans hope coach Sides will encourage CC's teammates to get better at: anticipating her passes, and using them to score. AB does that now (which is why I don't think they should run plays through AB), but they need to run a LOT more plays through CC. and the critics and haters need to get over the idea that CC is just a 3-point shooter. check out her assists. she does that because it wins games, and builds the team. she's a point guard.

@@outsidethegarden I agree with most of what you said but again, her size, lack or speed and strength will not go far in The W. She is a great playmaker, I'll give her that much, but again her overall game is pretty mid in the Pros. Kelsey Plum is smaller than her but has way more heart. Im not blaming Coach Sides, I actively watch these games and last game I saw sides run THE EXACT SAME PLAY for CC 3 times in a row and it was 0-3 because its not hard to stop her, once you stop her at the 3 and cut off passing lanes she isnt strong enough to go to the basket and finish.
