A quirky and futuristic car for its time, here's why you might want to consider a CT200h.
Sold from 2011 to 2020, the Lexus CT200h is an unusual hatchback and not to everyones tastes but there's certainly plenty to like about it.
Full review including performance, economy, practicality, comfort and more

I bought my 2012 Ct200 back in 2017.I needed a more economical Lexus after owning a gs300 which wasn’t bad but I traveled 2hrs to visit my girlfriend on weekends. Well it’s 7years later the car still runs like new and I’m married with two kids.The car has payed for itself a few times over.Its still my daily driver.Saved enough to buy a 2013 Ls460 as a weekend car 🚙

The way I see it is, Lexus hybrids are not for everyone, which is quite understandable. I have a is300h FSport, but after a long and hard days work I get into my Lexus and drive home at a leisurely pace just letting the world go by, there is no other car that gives you that sense of relaxation and quietness that chills you out.Now get me going on the build quality and the reliability, just one word. Exceptional.

I have 2014 Lexus ct 200h. I bought it from my church friend in June 2020 for $7000 with 83,000 mileages. As for now January 2024 I have 142,000 miles ODO. This car is very reliable and economical. I only do routine maintenance oil change, coolant cleaning, transmission fluid change every 20,000 miles. It does run like a champ am planning on keeping it forever.

We bought one in Australia in 2012. It has been fantastic from a reliability point of view.....2 headlight bulbs replaced in 12 years have been the only ex-logbook maintenance. The version we have, the Sports Luxury, came with 215/45/17 tyres which, on the crappy road surfaces here, give a pretty hard ride with accompanying road noise. Otherwise, the car is easy to drive, the seats are comfortable and the cockpit is a nice place to be in with a pretty damn good sound system. A sports car it certainly ain't! Average mileage over 10 years of 200k km of city and crowded freeway driving has been 5.5l/100 km (51.4mpg UK). Not easy to manoeuver the grandchildren into the child seats in the back as the rear doors are pretty narrow but the effort keeps us fit. At 200k km at present so we plan on keeping it up to about 250k km and then we'll see how the battery is holding up before deciding on it's future. At the last service, the battery was better than 85% of the original capacity. We are only 200m from the dealership so servicing is ultra-simple for us and the Lexus customer service is beyond reproach. No regrets at all about the Lexus CT200h.

Hi JJ. This is possibly one of the fairest reviews of the CT200H that I've seen (sorry Matt, no offence). Had mine for close on 3 years and it's totally reliable, I average 57mpg (yes, that's the average over my ownership) and once you get used to the CVT it's pretty enjoyable to drive. It definitely is a different driving experience but once you're into it, it's great. The best way I can describe the acceleration characteristic is that it's a bit like piloting a small motor boat...the engine revs up and the propeller does its stuff at the rear and then the boat catches up with it. In summary, love mine and would definitely have another.
@JJonCars

bought a 2015 fsport and bought it beacuse of the sportier driving suspension and torque filling of the electric motor when compared to a 2018 prius, turned out to be a little cheaper then a prius aswell. As a 22 year old with a 2 year old, it actually suits me and my needs extremely well. It can do some technical driving on some backroads for an hour if i please and still have gas to pick up the kid from daycare and run errands. Even after all that, a full tank runs around ~$25-$28usd. As far as space goes, it can be a little tight to be honest, but for road trips a roof top carrier and low profile roof rack makes up for the car being on the smaller size.

The B mode does not charge the battery. It basically adjusts the CVT transmission to simulate a lower gear, which is only useful when going down extended mountain passes to avoid using the brakes too much. The brakes are what charge the hybrid battery. Using B mode will throw the energy away, but will prevent the brakes from over use or getting too hot. When you go down extended passes, the Battery will likely fill up from braking anyway, so any additional braking will only wear at the brakes, which are not particularly designed for heavy use, especially once the regeneration is disabled from a full battery

😂 The urge to quote Partridge in the video was almost irresistible. But I'm pretty sure every Lexus review since 2001 has mentioned him so I battled the urge 😄 I was wearing some Tommy Hilfinger though, but it doesn't come across so well in the video medium 🤷‍♂️

Nothing wrong with the CVT, we are on our third car with a CVT transmission and they're brilliant.

Depends what you want from it really! They do work well for getting decent fuel economy.

Most of the people who buy these have no interest in 0 - 60 times. They just want a reliable economic car to run.

Didn't know they had that eV only mode button, hardly seems worth it with those tiny batteries 🤔.

Cvt are fine for normal driving but who guys a Prius powered car to drive fast?
@JJonCars
@JJonCars 2 жыл бұрын
Yep, you're right - but the car was designed to look sporty, the ride is reasonably firm, and it handles quite well. So it does seem slightly at odds with the drivetrain. But overall, it does work as it's really economical and quiet and definitely a car I can recommend :)

This is currently on top of my list of cars to buy. I want a premium brand but don’t wanna hang out with a mechanic as every now and then your car keepa breaking (which is usual in BMWs and Mercs, sorry german performance fanboys). Hopefully I’ll find one in good condition.

It’s a great car. But, it’s built on a Toyota Matrix platform, not a Prius.
@JJonCars

Apparently we are both right - the platform is both Matrix and Prius (and a lot of other cars too). The drivetrain is Prius

I'd take the CT200h personally. It's more interesting and luxurious but still has the fuel economy of the Prius

So many complaints on this car.. Engine noise, low body that scratches in bump easily, poor design quality that makes rain water entering inside the car.. That is why they stopped the production..
