The core takes up roughly half of the Leafs salary cap. You cannot win like this. Auston is the only star you have on Toronto that I trust actually gives a proper fuck about winning. The big one is Carlyle. That Bruins team was 2 years removed from winning the Cup and was about to get back to the Finals. That Leafs team made the playoffs only because there were 48 games due to the lockout and didn't have another 34 to blow it......and they led 4-1 in Game 7 after erasing a 3-1 series lead.

I agree. Hockey is a sport where force of will and passion alone can sway the balance in your favor over anything, including skill. A decent player who is playing with everything he has will always beat the perfect player who doesn't have his head on straight. Its part of why I love the sport and respect the players. It was difficult to watch the Leafs (even as a Bruins fan). They were down 3-1 going back to Montreal for Game 5......and smoked them. Then they won one of the greatest games I've ever seen in Game 6 to force Game 7. So yeah, this series is NOT over
