Funny thing just occurred to me how extremely different and exciting this review was. Maybe this is the story/review/honesty LG was hoping for, maybe somewhere in South Korea an LG exec is crying in his office saying we love Mr Carlos this is what we've been trying to tell people. Really great work Mr SGG.

BTICronox The problem is that people are allured to the insane production values of those channels to the point where all the other guys like Damir or Juan get pushed to the sidelines. I cringe whenever they say "they needed to stand out with a glass phone" because that's not practical, alongside the whole "premium feel" thing. Even worse is when people angrily comment, saying they're wrong because "Popular Reviewer X said it's great. You don't know what you're talking about". I own a Note8, and it's served me really well so far. But it's important to get a bigger picture. I remember watching one video about the Huawei Mate10 Pro and there's so much wrong information in there that I wonder why did he bother to push it out. I get wanting to appeal to a broad audience but maybe some of those don't care for iPhones or Galaxy phones or Huaweis.

I actually prefer the satin finish on the P2 but I think most of the G5's controversy stemmed from the claim that it was metal. I wouldn't mind at all if they made a G5 with that satin finish, albeit done in a way that doesn't wear off easily Believe it or not, I would rather have that satin finish on my phone than glass. Glass is my personal least favorite material for a phone, but everyone is jumping onto that bandwagon because apparently, tech bloggers love it. That's in the condition that it lasts. If it wears off easily, no thanks.

@JuanBagnell Thanks so much! My goodness the Hi-Fi Quad DAC is audio nirvana. I can't even listen to MP3 anymore. FLAC is so crisp. The G7 is truly underrated. Despite the 3000mAh battery, I've managed to get 7 hours of on-screen time and nearly 9 hours overall without battery extended mode. The notch isn't as bad as folks make it out to be even though I choose to mask it. Excellent 2018 LG flagship device.

Dark Angel Rafael I wonder if you notice a difference in streaming services like Google music. And with mediocre headphone like the ATH M50x because that is how I listen my music. Also considering this phone, I could get it for 515 Euros it seems like a good deal. Better than the OnePlus 6

xxBlackpspxx I don't really listen to streaming music often. I prefer FLAC audio files for music listening. However, the Tidal app offers lossless audio Hi-Fi streaming. The Audio-Technica ATH-AD500X is currently less than $80 if it's within your budget.

xxBlackpspxx Additionally, when listening to Amazon music, the LG G7 ThinQ Hi-Fi Quad DAC does enhances the audio when headphones are used. Sound is much louder, more crisp and overall better than without it. Not to mention the DAC software has lots of customization options to fine tune your audio experience.

Great review. Thanks, Juan. On a side note, people don't know what it's like to have good audio on a smartphone. The quad-dac truly completes the LG package and I pray they never get rid of it....it's what separates them and makes them so unique. Thumbs up for the review. You nailed it. Hello ! Thanks for the review ! i just saw a huge price drop on the g7 at 450. I have a s8 and i was wondering is buying the g7 worth it now or buying just an amp, fiio q1 mark 2 could be enough to improve my audio experience ? headphones ( Onkyo h500bt 16ohms, Denon ah d400 65 ohms, Marshall monitor 35 ohms)

hello sir, just bought the LG G7 from amazon but on the first boot up the screen showed erasing and then it went on to starting android, i checked the file manager there it shows folders like photos , music of may-2017 whereas the date of manufacturing on the box is march-2019, i checked the IMEISV number it says 19 ,,,, also there is a backup folder in file manager dated 01/01/2019, i think i got the refurbished phone of may-2017 kindly reply

Dude, thank you for this review so much! I had the G4 going on like 4 years, and it was messing up the other day beyond my repair. So I was in a pinch and got the G7. Now, I didnt wanna get it (or any other phone) mainly because of the nonremovable battery because I purchased a huge battery for my G4 and didnt wanna part ways with it. But after watching this and hearing your opinion it makes me happy that I got it. So thanks again for this video! Keep up the great work.

G4 to G7 should feel like a NICE update, especially for that audio. Get a decent pair of buds or cans. It really is a treat. I'm with you tho. I really wish we could swap batteries still.

Great review Juan! I'm subscrbing to your patereon 👏 To add regarding the speaker improvements, the ipad air 2 uses its chasis as a resonance chamber as well. You can feel it when playing music. Glad that other manufacturers are trying similar things.

Curious question. If you use the Pixel Dongle or Razer Phone dongle on the LG will the audio be better through the Dongle with it's built in Amp/DAC or through the quad DAC built into the 3.5jack on the phone?

Better from the phone. The Pixel dongle is good, the Razer dongle is better, but neither unseat the ESS DAC on LG phones.

hey juan, can you tell me how the sound quality compares to a fiio x5 gen 3, I know you got one :D which does sound better to you?

They're pretty close. I think the Fiio has a slightly mellower sound, and the amp doesn't differentiate between headphones, so full power is available for even lower resistance gear. It's tough to describe in text but I'd maybe say the highs are more "comfortable" where the LG is a bit brighter/harder. But I like the mids a bit better on the LG where they feel better defined against the "sweeter" sound on the Fiio.

JuanBagnell hey wow he actually replied i am kinds shocked thx man and thx for your impressions if the v30 really is on par, the x5 really doesn't have many reason to buy it, i had that DaP and was kinda underwhelmed but the amp is a monster for real but then again most ppl including me don't need that monster amp, most IEMs and Buds and even full sized cans go undrr 50 ohms impedance, and thanks for this review finally someone calling out these Oled fanboys, rather a high end LCD than a low end amoled like oneplus used in the 3.

Really solid video really enjoyed it but I still have two questions 1 does it support fast charging this year for wireless fast charging? I'm not a big fan of plug-in with the cable because I'm always either snagging it on something or tripping over it and in the middle of the night trying to plug it in is how I get a lot of my minor scratches on my devices And 2 did LG finally give you the ability to make your SD card adaptable internal storage? Because like you I do a lot of my video production from my phone and it's just easier when you could just make everything one big storage. Other than that I'm really considering upgrading from my G6. Keep up the great work and I can't wait for the next video have a good one.

Unfortunately I don't have a fast wireless charger, so I couldn't test that. I'll check out the SD card after I finish the camera review. I have about 30GB of photos and videos to sort through before i mess with that.

The only issue I've had with my G6 is poor call quality at times.get alot of complaints my voice sounds muffled and muddy. Thinking of trying the G7 for this reason alone. Any opinions?

V20 is a MONSTER media player. Would probably recommend an end of life V20 over most dedicated MP3 players.

If you have a compatible model you should tooootally root it and install SuperV20 rom!!! It's soooo nice to have root controls to help save battery, but the big thing is you can calibrate the screen and it gets rid of ALL the burn in

Thank you for the great review, subscribed right away. Lg got my attention with their stylo series (awsome budget phones). I think I'll be getting this tomorrow. Love the wide angle, couldn't care less about selfies and want to love the speakers and extra bright mode not to mention the transfer of the super dack from the V series.. Breath* can't wait.

That is a great review! LCD is as good as OLED if not better (every technology has its strengths and weaknesses). I talked to someone who told me that the screen on the V30 is better than the one on the G7 just because it is an OLED... 😂 This phone, the U12+ and the XZ2 are really great phones in my opinion.

That's what I hate about tech fads. It just becomes a meme that "you want OLED" or "glass = premium". We lose all the nuance of pros and cons.

Clous von I've used OLED and LCD. I always go back to LCD because apart from the deep blacks LCD is as great as OLED. But LCD has the benefit of being more durable (no burn-in, etc...) and black levels are still increasing on LCDs.

That would be the first time I hear about burn-in on LCD screens. Are you sure this is not just image persistence? It's just temporary, I had this on my SHIELD K1 sometimes and it goes away instead of burn-in which is permanent.
