I don't care what anyone thinks. LG is king with their phones! I've had Samsung phones in the past and switched to lg since lg5 and onwards. Awsome phones! My wife is in love with LG as well now.

LG is so underrated, shadowed only by marketing from Samsung and Apple. The only thing I hate about LG is availability. I'd love to not have to order it. Been all in since my V20 and just bought this one. Great review J

At least J gives realistic review. Did you notice other reviewers always say yeah LG is nice...but. They always give LG lower reviews than Samsung or Google. For 1/2 price on TMobile this phone is a steal.

I have the s7 edge for 3 years,I really love this phone,BUT if I'm gonna upgrade I'll definitely pick the g8 over the s10,never had a lg device before but g8 looks like a phone you don't want to miss out

I still got the G2 MINI it was released 2014 got it 2015, but still has a very good recording video capability, I was able to do videography service juat using the phone and none could tell the quality difference

@J. Williams - I am really liking the red from T-Mobile along with that red case. I have eliminated the other K20 Pro from the competition and do hope this comes down to where the G7 came to after it had been out 8 months as that price is in my range. I still have the Asus Zenfone in the running for the big reason of it having 2 sim cards plus a micro storage card all being able to be used at the same time. Fabulous video. Thank you.

I am lucky. My hand gestures work everytime even though i rarely use it. And the DAC, OMG! It's about 30 volume steps over my ipod.

I just bought this phone! I was debating fiercely between a Galaxy s10, Pixel 3 XL, and this LG G8. The LG G8 ended up edging out when I texted all 3 out in the store, and price of $620 how can I go wrong? LOVE the camera on this thing.

Hi J. What tempered glass protector do you use for your G8? I just got a G8 as a replacement for my G7, which I had for almost a year and loved. (Dropped it and apparently the bottom of the back glass panel cracked...the next day...while in my Ringke Fusion case, go figure.) The brand I used for my G7 (iCarez), which was PERFECT, apparently doesn't make tempered glass for the G8. THANKS in advance.

There goes that vein ID! 😂 Solid device otherwise. Nothing to really complain about. I have seen your device as well as other G8s stutter when swiping through home screens and the app drawer. Sluggish software? Probably could be addressed in an update. Great discounts for this device. TMobile comes in handy! 👌🏽

You forgot to mention the best thing imo about LG now. The 2 year warranty is sweet for people doing the next plan, etc. Can’t beat it imo. Love the dac in Their phones. And they did the wide angle when it wasn’t hot. Their phones are so under rated. I love the Galaxy Notes and my iPhone. But LGs V series are my favorite since the v20.

The hand gestures didn't work because you had too much light directly in camera. I noticed you kept turning it towards the windows getting even more light in the camera.

I almost got one to replace a broken V30. But I just got a used V35 for $300 and I love it - I had not planned on this expense. I also had a V10, and I keep going back for the quad DAC. I may upgrade to the new V in the fall. I really like not having a notch.

I wanted to get the Pixel 3a but this to me is better and no shortcuts. I got this S7 Edge I can get $200 off to get this. Ever since the V10 the 24fps cinnematic recording was very good (former V10 owner) and I made some videos and yes they were nice. Once again, thanks JWills!!

Can I edit the short cut buttons when you swipe down? I’m coming from an iPhone and the calculator and alarm clock are the most useful shortcuts. I don’t see those two as shortcuts

This is the best lg phone I've had. U can get the external speakers pretty loud when u adjust the sound settings just not the highest quality sound compared to a few other phones.

I have the Sprint unlocked version of the LG G8 ThinQ. For starters you put your hand too close to the screen when you tried hand unlock. Second, maybe the reason you have radio on yours is because you have the T-Mobile version. Mine is lacking. I will agree with you on the "High Quality DAC." LG was the ONLY company that cared to keep the headphone jack relevant. My V20 even had the B&O logo. For those who do not know, that stands for Bang & Olofson(?) They're synonymous for great audio. I believe my LG G7 ThinQ also had it. I gave both phones away. Not that I disliked the phones. I gave my V20 to my cousin's wife because she needed one. I gave my G7 to a friend who needed an unlocked phone to get a lifeline phone service. He lost it before the SIM card arrived. I got my G8 because I missed my G7. Luckily it's on AT&T's list of devices that will survive their 3G Sunset.

I’m going to say it that even though the design doesn’t look futuristic overall when you compare it to galaxy phones and other Android phones out there but i do love the overall style and mainly that color... ever since I saw this color on a phone I always wanted to get a phone in this color and I’m really thinking 🤔💭 of buying this phone right here...!!!

Almost all raised the price in them, got the TMO black color, for $500 locked to TMO and a Speck Presidio case fir $500 delivered. Everything came sealed and untouched. Will request my unlock in a month or so in according their policy.

Im watching on my G6... My ONLY problems are these: My phone hasnt been throuhh much of anything.. Yet the fast charging is ridiculously hard to get to work. My microphone just went OUT and no one can hear me and my google voice is not working, yet with Facebook Messenger I can talk to people. Things i want in G8, I want my ANDROID AUTO to work EVERY TIME i connect. I hate Android Auto and it makes me angry when not working. Will the G8 provide this?

Usually you need headphones with at least 50 ohm's to activate impedance mode, but there are ways to trick the phone to switch on impedance mode. One way is to get a male to female 3.5mm Jack and plug that into the phone first by itself, then plug your headphones into the Jack and you will hear a big difference on all levels. There are other ways as well, look up some forums and videos.

When people say "I don't like the skin", they aren't just talking about how the icons look. They mean the functionality and design of the UI elements that LG adds or even take away. Basically what you were saying just before about the old volume control design.

Hey J great phone, loving be mine, same set up as yours, red on red. I find the gestures work pretty flawless when the phone is placed down (not holding it) that is what it was meant for, hands free. Glad you're enjoying yours, my battery got better with time, I do have a dark theme from the play store, I'm sure that's helping, most of all I'm enjoying the DAC, I'm feeling the potential of the amp this phone has, no joke, theres ways to activate the DAC with normal headphones, no joke.✌🏽

I can't wait to get this phone! I have the g7 right now and it's a great phone. Even without pie 🥧. But can someone tell me when this phone will get android pie?! I don't know y LG is so far behind on updates when these phones are the top of the line. The lock screen animation is so awesome and there are so many more great features that make me wanna buy it asap. So far this phone is my next choice but the one plus 7 pro looks crazy. One more thing I know u like the g8 over the s10 but why and do u think I should upgrade to the g8? Thanks

True story: if I hadn't have bought my Note 9 there is almost a100% chance I would have bought the G8. I never use the Note's stylus, but the G8's gesture feature seems very useful. My G3 lasted me right up until September last year - what a survivor. Too bad LG don't do marketing. Oh, and that red would give a jellyfish a hard on.

@@noahneutral7557 I'd had the LG for a few years and wanted to see what else was out there. I'd researched phones for the better part of a year and was aware of what was out and what was on the horizon. The vast majority of KZfaq Tech reviewers are fans of Samsung and I guess ultimately their hype just got to me. No one was saying too much positive about the G7 except Flossy and his review got me thinking about buying another G series, but when it came time to lay the dollars down I just wanted something different and went with the 512Gb Note 9 in blue. Don't get me wrong, the Sammy is amazing but after the honeymoon period I was left with the thought that I would have been just as happy with any other android flagship. Edit: initially I was eager for the U12+, but when the reviewers started saying the side buttons were a gimmick I gave it a miss.

I had an LG G6...loved it! Had an LG V30....loved it!!! Was looking forward to a G7 or G8......nope! V40 or V50....nope! LG ruined those phones with an ugly notch.

Was debating going with the G8 but went with the S10+, Iv'e had multiple phones from both companies and Samsung IMO is better in the long run in my experience, my LG's lag significantly over time compared to my Samsung devices. My G6 lags horribly and the battery dies fast, where as my S8+ is still buttery smooth with a great battery. And you can't beat Samsung pay..

Nice but my ThinQ flickers and sometimes goes to a bright light green screen. I have to reboot and it's okay again. May have to get a trade in at some point. Otherwise it's a great phone though.

Pretty sure I read yesterday you can use pen input with the G8, you just have to buy the pen separately and they didn't include a place to insert it on the G8, probably because they had no room with the quad DAC headphone jack and internal boombox.

@@megadeth8592 I've used Gcam it's not reliable at all. In terms of it just working like the stock one.

MY PHONE THE SAME DAY I GOT IT......WHEN I GET A CALL..THE CALLER CAN NOT HEAR ME AND I CAN'T HEAR THEM. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO TWO DIFFERENT SPRINT STORES,,NO ONE CAN NOT FIX . THE AREA MANAGER WANTS ME TO DRIVE 120 MILES ONE WAY THE CORP. STORE AND THAT IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN.i WAS SUPPOSE TO GET A CALL TODAY AT 5:30.....IT'S 10:35 PM AND STILL WAITING ON THE CALL....SPRINTS CUSTOMER SERVICE IS GONE OUT TE WINDOW..I WILL BE GOING TO THE BBB AND FILE A COMPLAINT...

you can tell lg hardware is top notch these days but the camera software needs work still, they need to buy a company or get that handled like huawei did with leica or something
