LG G8 should be compared to the similar sized S10. V50 can be compared to the S10+ if taken screen and battery size.

From my point of view LG does it well with V30+ and G7+. Some to mention: 1. Volume rocker shortcuts for taking notes, drawing as well as taking pics immediately without having to turn on or unlock the phone 2. Cine-log video that is absolutely amazing and it's just the only one out there for my post-production purpose. I own other phones as well and the rest only boast HDR without cine-log. 3. HD audio recorder plays voice noting very very well. 4. Quad DAC surely extends the experience in listening and reviewing high quality audio. 5. Pressing-and-sliding home button to the left or right will immediately resize the whole screen into a smaller window to fit one hand operation. 6. Manual camera operation is surely at another level, being able to set aperture, ISO, f-stop, white balance, etc. It even comes with graphy presets. There are more features I use that I don't find in any other smartphones out there, come built in my V30+. I'm a abit picky on having my daily gears and I don't mind using any brand that works for me. However, having S8 as my primary for a short period of time, didn't serve and answer my needs. Then the S8 goes as my backup phone. As for updates, as long as the OS gives me what I need to work with, that's ok with me. Oreo, Pie .... does it really make a huge difference when we're only using much less than 50% on the features it's offering? So, if LG continues to place more features into G8 aside those I've been using from its V30+, I will still use LG. And this G8 looks promising. I'm not really interested in 5G as I find that 4G at 30-40Mbps is more than adequate for all my connectivity requirements. It allows me to have HD video calls/conference with my wireless projector, connected to my V30+. Again, G8 looks promising for me. I'll give it some tests first when it's available, in order to make sure that it could replace my V30+.

LG for sure because i love how they still keep the Radio FM feature,something that most companies have already abanded... I have learned to appreciate this feature a lot because you can listen freely to the Radio without using your data package and also it doesn't kill your battery that much

I'll take LG over Samsung any day. I'm not saying Samsung doesn't make really great phones. Trust me I don't need that kind of heat coming at me. But I've always like the road that's less travel. I see Samsung's and iphones every day all day. It just feel's good to rock a phone that some people have to ask what kind of phone is that. So LG and Oneplus for me. No disrespect to Samsung and iPhone..

im cooking or doing anything handy and its a small detail but having to wash or clean my hands every time i need to touch my phone does get irritating so i can see myself making good use of gestures honestly 🤔🤔

It's nice to see Samsung following LG Ultra wide camera, dual selfie camera, HDR10+ (free version of Dolby vision), AOP mics, HDR video recording, 😁 G8 has front & rear bokeh video, which is only available on unreleased S10+5G. Note 10 will have sound on display ofc 😁

This phone , since it's an upgrade to G7 which is a fantastic one, looking really promising. I like pretty much the fact that LG has kept the Headphones port n Notification led, as well, instead of Samsung bad move to remove them. Good job by LG!

the G8 has rear sensor, true face recognition and a 3500 mah battery to outperform the 3400 mah on the S10 (not to mention LG optimization > samsung). These are reasons alone to consider the G8 over the s10/s10+. Samsung fucked up leaving out rear sensor and optical sensors in the front....effectively turns it back into a s6/s7 with just in-display. But regardless, gotta hand it to these Korean Manufacturers for designing the best hardware packages.

Oh lets put the notch on the side...No notch now...and something else...i see in LG G8 new technologies....in S10 what are the new tech introduced...food for thought....and last if Samsung has introduced no touch you would say "OMG NO TOUCH OMG EXCELLENT!!! OMG WHAT A HIGH TECH!!! when LG introduce it..."Who gonna use it...?" You like it or not LG makes the MOST value for money mobiles WITH ALWAYS SOMETHING NEW IN IT...ALWAYS! And i like that the white in G8;s Oled is WHITE...compare it when the phones are side by side at 2:50 min...

Lg making great phones. Specialy wide angle lense saved me many times before when had no other cameras to record on video dj sets where u lack of space and have to fit a lot of stuff.

I have always liked the LG software but never been satisfied with the speakers or speaker. I'm definitely a front facing stereo speaker lover. So, this LG no speaker grills tech worries me. How clear can that be? The phone looks nice though. I'm not so overly loving the no bezel top and bottom though. Pretty much cuts out the hope of front facing stereo speakers. Also handling the phone for video or game play is difficult because there is no way to hold the phone without touching the screen. What's the big deal about bezels anyway? Small is fine but none is kinda silly. Makes you feel like you can't hold the phone securely. And,,, the speakers sorry but gotta have those speakers. Thanks for the review.

Why are you showing the V50 in that shot next to the S10+? The G8 has no ear piece speaker, the phone you are showing there has one.

4:12 the front is more convenient he said, yet his index is naturally sitting in the rear XD. I think its safe to say the rear sensor is the more intuitive and convenient position to the front. Front FP sensor is dated. Manufacturer's should all be pushing for front wide angle and face recognition.

Is there something wrong with the Galaxy screen panel or is there just a color tuning issue?? Compared to LG the whites on the Galaxy have a red and gray hue to it whereas on the LG panel, whites are white. Just curious if that's something I need to be concerned about. I'm thinking about switching to the Samsung ecosystem but I definitely don't want to deal with color issues on the device.

LG really does make a good phone with nice features, but Samsung is going to be hard to compete with this year. LG are still a bit behind in some areas. Big props on the quad dac though. I hope they refine thier hand gestures, the hardware is great, but it looks like the software is struggling.

I actually bought the S9 AFTER I had the G7 to see what all the fuss was about. I immediately disliked the curved screen on the Samsung and the bigger screen on the G7 was way better. No doubt I'll get a G8.

I have the G7 thinq and i see nothing different in that phone. Even Android 9 looks like android 8 on it. Samsung One UI really look nice. I can't wait for Samsung to make their own quad dac for me to switch.

LG G8 has better technology all in all, the screen speaker (could be gone conducting), vein reading for super security, 3D acial unlock for ease, fingerprint if you rather use that. Hand gestures could be useful. I personally don't like edge to edge because it gets in the way. Good camera hardware, DAC + headphone jack... No pop out cameras or speaker holes. There's probably more. Technically better imo
