I would love to see you do a review of a 2022 LG mini led tv. I just bought a qned85 mini led in 65" and it's really nice imo. Very good blacks with vibrant colors. I read somewhere where one reviewer thought it may have ADS panels but no idea if it's true. It does have great off angle views so still may be ips. Whatever the case.....I'm thrilled with the tv. Bought it from Amazon during an early black Friday sale for $1,197. A lot of tv at that price.

The problem with LCD(IPS) panels from consumer display manufacturers, is that you have to sacrifice reference design over aesthetics. The closer the LED to the panel, blooming can overtake objects in a scene. So LG other option is to reduce the cluster size.

I'll tell you the easiest way to ruin a TV is to compare side by side to the old one. I kept my 27" UK600 IPS monitor at my desk flanked by a C1 OLED, I actually preferred the tiny IPS in 80% of the content despite its pathetic blacks regardless of how far back I sat. OLED is unmatched for cinema viewing though.

Hello, I enjoy your reviews and how professionally you make them, watching your last video I want to know which TV I should buy next month considering my TV wall is 6 meter from my sofa back which means my head will be placed 5.3 -5.5 from the TV. Watching your TV comparisons videos I understand that the OLED is the better technology these days and I undecided if the G1 or the C1 {because I really want the 83” version cause it seats almost on all my tv wall and i think that t will be much more impressive that way (p.s, I prefer it to be wall mounted)} or the sony A90J, which one would you recommend me considering the fact that I like to see movies and play PS5 with my friends? ( I also have 2 nice speakers of klipsch heresy which should connect thru a receiver to my tv and make the audio experience on another level). Money between those is not a factor cause the next time I will change my TV is 6-8 years from now.

Blooming and handling blacks are only a few problems with this TV. The frame on the larger 86 inch is so weak most of these get damaged during shipment or installation. I went through about 7 screens and finally gave up. Amazon dropped 2, Bestbuy delivered a bad one, 4 replacement screens later produced one that wasn't damaged in shipment. I may have the only undamaged unit in Socal. Even when undamaged their is an inconsistent fog on all of them when you try a white screen.

I have this LG 65QNED996PB and this TV is much better than the test says. however to appreciate it correctly you need a dp-ub820 and Configure it in Full RGB and 12 bit, so the management of the backlighting will be much better. according to Blu-Ray UHD Spears & Munsil UHD HDR Benchmark, in Dynamic Range Low and in Demo Material, in: Filmmaker Picture Mode I can set Screen Brightness to 57 in a completely dark room and 60 in a lit room. with a very very rare Blooming. Vivid image mode, you can set Screen Brightness to 57 in a room in complete darkness and 65 in a bright room, with very rare Blooming, on most scenes Contrast an Object on a black background in the overwhelming majority scenes there is no Blooming, and the one where there is it is very weak.

@@geiers6013 Agreed, this issue is a chip design flaw in the Sony X900H. If this is present on the TCL C825 like what some of the owners are suspecting, than it is a massive disappointment after all the hype for it. Why can't companies just truthfully advertise the features if it works as intended or not? If they can't support 4K 120 the legit way, they should have just leave this feature out entirely like what Xiao Mi has done for their Mi Q1 TV, though it has HDMI 2.1 ports and a 120hz panel they include a clear warning on all their advertisements that due to hardware limitations (they should be referring to the Mediatek SOC as well), the TV does not support 4K 120hz. @@Aggrofool Yeah it's kinda crazy they are saying go out and buy a £1300-£1700 TV instead of this £6,000 TV as we gutted all the good features from this one. Isn't there a new LCD technology better than VGA used in Computer monitors - why are they not using that for TV's anyway ? What the heck were they thinking making TV's with some sort of Black Frame insertion and then remove all the options to control it ? Why remove the dark area controls that the OLEDS have when the large dimming array could do with similar fine tuning too. I can see this TV being VERY heavily discounted - I hope they didn't over produce it as they may need to have a rethink - this TV is like the Nano 70 of modern TV's Missing features and barely better than adequate for a single use case (watching TV). I mean seriously they have HDMI 2.1 & a proprietry in house chipset with all the features on it on last years LCD' and OLEDS and they release a new one and it looks like they spent all the processing on the dimming control (managed to mess that up anyway) and strip all the useful features out - and it's not like this is an introductory model this is the top spec one - it's really poor. It's like this is a training wheels TV where the try to learn how to control the dimming and see what they can remove without people noticing. OH and I wish Vincent would talk about the features of the TV - such as picture in picture & split image when they have that - as that is so darn useful and no one hardly ever mentions it (it's something some Samsung's have) and no one ever mentions it and it's so darn useful. Also some TV's have built in surround sound of sorts and you can add a sub woofer and rear speakers without a soundbar and that could save you £1000 and again no one ever mentions the TV can do that in reviews either a lot of the time. I would say how well something works with or doesn't work with surround sound out of the box is an important point - as not everyone is going to spend £3K on an amp and speakers if they only paid under $1,500 for the TV. Personally I'd just like the rear channel as it's handy to have for movies and FPS games - yet it's rarely mentioned by anyone - Maybe if vincent has not sent all his review samples back it's something he could make a comparison video on. especially when the out of the box sound is very hit and miss on a lot of models this year.

@90lancaster
@90lancaster 2 жыл бұрын
@@dylanpresidafonseca2545 I don't know nothing to different just a proprietary evolution of VA panels I think configured for faster refresh rates & very high colour volume, while not loosing viewing angle. Same sort of thing - just a bit nicer than TV's seem to get right now. The word on the street is that a lot of computer monitors come 2022 will start to change over to OLED anyway - I guess it's just down to them wanting to progress the technology where as the TV makers seems to just want to make it mass producible and cheaper and don't care much about the quality. Perhaps that has something to do with the Monitor being a choice that is some what separate from the device played on it - unlike "Smart" TV's. But I just think the higher base refresh rate of these monitors is something useful on TV's too. if for no other reason a refresh rate of 340hz gets rid of a lot of the issues with flicker when using BFI for a start. Also it would be interesting to offer a higher refresh rate to PC Gamers who might think better than 120hz is nice to have too (in some situations). This might be very popular in Japan for example where they are having a boom in PC gaming lately.

I found the QNED 90 to not perform very well when using accurate settings. As you saw as well using HDR tone mapping or Dolby Vision Cinema home does seem to make the TV more competitive. Most of the responses I get is more people seem to prefer those, and it seems LG is aware of this.

Most people will prefer brighter, inaccurate settings over an accurate picture... this doesn't make it correct since our goal is to strive for accuracy. LG hasn't purposely designed [Cinema Home] to be more competitive... it just so happens that a brighter, less accurate picture preset would steer the image away from low-light "trouble zone" due to IPS's shallower blacks.

I'm surprised how competitive the QNED 90 (4K) is compared to your latest video. If LG lowered the prices of their QNED ranges both 4K & 8K models and have consistent FW updates to iron out the issues addressed and it would be a decent buy. LG need to need to put more effort into their LED ranges like they certainly do with their OLEDs.

The only thing I don't like about my C9 and OLED in general is the emphasized stutter on slow panning scenes in 24fps. TruMotion set to User 3/3 helps, but it's still there. I keep my TVs for 10 or more years, and hopefully this is the last TV in my lifetime where motion is an issue.
@Jrfeimst2
@Jrfeimst2 2 жыл бұрын
It’s because the pixel response is so low. It’s 1ms. Led TVs have a much higher pixel response (20ms at times) that it produced a natural blur to 24fps movies on slow pans. It’s just how oleds are. I’ve had one for 6 years and would not want anything else, at least for now. It’s not really a stuttering you are seeing. You are seeing each individual frame because of the hold release style pixel response. Even my high end jvc projector can show this in slow moving pans. I don’t ever use any motion enhancing because that is not true to how the film was done. If you go to a movie theater and there is a slow pan it will show there as well. It’s just that most good photography directors don’t use those kind of shots because they know it doesn’t look pleasing and add a slight twist to the camera as it pans which can eliminate this issue.
@Toliman.
@Toliman. 2 жыл бұрын
It is tougher to get that smooth panning motion to work, because of the image retention that makes LCD panels, and OLED efficient. Plasma has a fast intensity and decay curve without a black frame insertion, because the black is near instant after the frame is displayed, the pixel image is off by default. With LCD, it’s on by default once the pixel is energised, but it can only ramp up and down to the intended brightness using quick refresh pulses to keep the image or discharge the image. Same with OLED, it needs time to reach the brightness and decay/return back to black to avoid heat retention causing subpixel decay/aging and fracturing. It takes extra time for a single pixel to pulse to full white or decay to full black, which is long enough to be visible after the frame has completed, leaving a blurry or semi-lit pixel behind or an afterimage/ghost. The trade off is typically brightness versus latency/speed, so you lose some brightness as the panel has to ramp down to black, then ramp back up to the proper colour, and it increases brightness slowly to avoid transition damage to the subpixel heating and/or cooling rapidly. It’s why there’s 240Hz and 360Hz PC monitors for gaming, despite the games not being able to get higher than 120fps, because the faster refresh removes the retention of the previous pixel, allowing for a smoother transition and clear, unblurred motion, even at 30-60Hz, but also 100Hz to 120Hz where the game is operating at (also human vision…) sic. The problem is also very evident with corridors and doorways, that leaves a residual blur, or the edge of a mouse cursor which has a black border and white pixels inside. So LCD/OLED has to fight the efficient image retention design when a black frame is inserted in order to replicate the older cathode ray / plasma screen that doesn’t retain the image. it may require a OLED panel with 500Hz+ or1000Hz to generate a smooth 24/25fps because the (very) high internal frequency allows for a smooth or fast transition to black after the frame is displayed, and, the frame rate increase will “tap” or pulse the sub pixels to increase the intensity of brightness when it operates at that higher frequency, but also to allow the heat dissipation to operate faster. This “lag” of white to black to white, or Grey to Grey, also affects QNED/QD and backlight systems because the backlight also needs time to drop back to black. The backlight update frequency can also determine if you see ghosting or motion blurring on QLED/QNED/MiniLED panels.

Please start mentioning how much worse the LG Web OS is. It really should be considered when buying a new TV. The basic ESPN app and the basic Fox TV apps are not available on Web OS. There are lots of sporting events like top 20 college basketball games that might not appear on normal TV broadcasts in fall because they occur during college football Saturday, etc. That makes sense, but you need espn app if you want to watch them,. The Fox app also offers football games in 4k without upcharges that KZfaqTV wants, etc. This is why TVs with native android TV(like Sony)are superior for at least the OS and compatibility side. For LG you have to try to stream from your phone, and I think stuff like the OS should be mentioned.

The point that an LG OLED is a better value or a Samsung higher end LCD, is interesting. However, at that price wouldn’t a Sony A90J be the best choice period. Samsung - no Dolby vision is a fail. Why not compare with a 4K Blu-ray with Dolby Vision, the Samsung LED/LCD and this LG QNED. You may say it isn’t fair to compare DV and nonDV, but whatever it’s one TV against another.
