Just bought one of these for work, huge 4 meter high glass wall behind me, no worries with the sun, also, it’s 144htz now, and is perfect with the max book, have had 2 people compliment the screen already. Hope it’s there when I get back on Monday!!

That was one of the best intros I've ever seen. Great review. you've helped with me buying decision between this, the Alienware AW3821DW and the LG38GN950. The W8N95C wins it for me because of the Type C input (easier for my mac) and the professional look of the display. I love gaming but I don't understand why there is so much emphasis on ugly RGB lightning on all these "Gaming Monitors". The W8N95C has all the features I want , high res display, 144hz , ( I've got a 3080 to drive it) , big screen, IPS. Great for work , and great for gaming

Thanks for the video. I was looking at a 49" but while great for gaming I think the wrong aspect ratio for productivity so this has helped me. Really good video production too. Small point. You make the same mistake as in many films. In radio communications "Over" means "I have finished talking and you can now talk" whereas "Out" means "I have finished talking and am terminating the conversation". Not used together. Mind you, as a KZfaq video is one way then "over" isn't really applicable anyway! 😉

The name's "simple" 38 = inches W = widescreen N = 2020 (P = 2021, Q = 2022) 9 = screen quality (higher than 8 and 7) 5 = stand with legs (8 is be Ergo) C = Curved stand, not angled W =back colour (W = white, B = black)

Would this be a better choice than Dell U4919DW ? I’m looking for a big monitor for graphic design and video editing so I’m wondering if there will actually be color and image quality difference on new LG monitor than the Dells 2019 model ? Nice video! Really excited to pick mine up tomorrow, but when you said it will probably soon be refreshed (8:50) I got some second thoughts. This monitor has been out of stock everywhere in my country and I got lucky that I found a shop which just got some delivered. Other stores are not getting this until july/august. Do you think there will be a refreshed version coming out soon? Do you think it will be upgraded with a HDMI 2.1 Port? Thanks

@@ThisIsE To be honest this was a concern for me before I saw your video, because the only thing it's missing is the HDMI 2.1 Port for next gen consoles. I picked it up today and the monitor is great, but I can still return it within 2 weeks.

how does this monitor’s picture quality compare to 32ul950? I have had 32ul950 for over a year. I am interested in this monitor but i am afraid to degrade in the picture quality.

I own one of these and use it for gaming. I'm very happy with it! If only it had more contrast. But the color is so good, the contrast feels higher than it is. The typical IPS glow is present, but much more even and diffuse than other displays I've used. So again, not bad! This will be on my desk for however long it takes micro-LED, or something OLED equivalent to make it into this form factor. Also, motion feels very smooth and clear. I tried a Monoprice Darkmater 34" before this, which is awesome for the money. But that VA panel looked choppier and less clear, even at higher frame rates with the lower resolution. It is an awesome screen for the money and I recommend it if you can't afford this 38".

When I changed my color profile and turned the darkness adjustment down to 30, it corrected the contrast for me big time at all brightness levels. Also need to keep HDR off unless watching HDR content

My bro! Great video! Could you clarify though, what's the text like on it? Is it as crisp/sharp as on the MacBook? I just bought a 49in Samsung CRG9 and the text on the monitor coming out of my MacBook Pro 16in is absolutely horrendous, looks fuzzy and pixelated even at full resolution of 5120x1440 over DP cable. I'm returning it and considering this LG, just want to make sure the text looks good and crisp to read! Thanks and keep making great vids!

I have had this monitor since July last year. I had to pay some extra € but it totally worth it. Excellent for work and excellent for gaming. If you are looking for a monitor for several different purposes, this is for you. It is expensive, but there is no other monitor great for work and gaming in the market.

I love your reviews. I even watch some just because of the entertainment, although I am not interested in the Model XYZ. :D Finally I got my LG Monitor connected to my M1 Macbook Air. USB-Hub also works, but I only get USB 2.0 speeds at maximum 30MB/s. Dis you get yours working at USB 3.0 speed ? I used the USB Cable which was includes and also tried the "amazon basic usb 3.1 100w" cable. Same issue.... Does another cable / thunderbolt cable enable usb 3.0 speed at your setup ?

Wow, Just got this monitor......It is amazing. The resolution is awesome. The refresh rate is great. The brightness and adjustments are fantastic. I love it. Using on my M1 MacBook Pro with included Thunderbolt 3 connection. Full 144hz refresh rate at full resolution. Never going back. Super easy setup.

Even with LG's 40" 5k2k, the non-retina causes faster eye strain, and possibly faster aging of eyes, that's why it's either break the bank with retina displays or just go with Windows.@@mdribblecastle

Great video !! I bought one as well and if I compare the entire left part of the screen with the entire right part of the screen while looking at the white background - the right side has slightl yellowish / greenish tint then the left and its almost unnoticeable but I can see it :( ((((((. Also I did try LG 4k 27 inch which was showing similar and I did try Asus PRo Art IPS 4k display which also did show that, but on this Giant monitor its much more obvious to see. I am using m1 pro, but I also did test it with my mcbook pro 2015 and it same. PS: Before I was running on Samsung 27 " WQHD LED Monitor (S27D850T) which does not show that and I am wondering maybe its due to IPS technology and manufacturer ?? DO YOU EXPERIENCE THE SAME?

Had to sub to this! After seeing like 4 of your videos, i have learned so much. And i've been in the UX/UI business for 13 years now.. Now, i got a question. Have you had the chance to test the 40" version? 40WP95C-W. Not sure if the 50-70% price increase is worth the two extra inches..

I'm using it now, I think the most noticeable difference is in text clarity, having 140 ppi. Still, it's not retina and I get eye strains faster than normal. That made me conclude it's either retina or just use windows. @@thaune91

I've just purchased the M1 Mac Mini. I'm looking for an ultrawide monitor for web design and development purposes. Would you recommend this monitor for that usage? Also, are you able to control the sound volume and screen brightness using the Mac keyboard? Many thanks for a great review.

It is an amazing monitor and a definite recommendation. I use a different audio source but controlling the volume from the OS shouldn’t be a problem

I have this monitor and m1 Mac mini. Volume is controlled on the monitor not via Mac (except in app volume like KZfaq). Also been having issues getting 144hz over usb c. Dealing with LG customer service for a few months now. I still like the monitor just the 144hz over usbc is not reliable so I can’t recommend it

@@cronanlavelle7731 Oh damn, that's not good. Hope you get that resolved. In the end, I went to a local store and they had a gaming widescreen monitor and I didn't like the look of it. So I ended up going with the BenQ PD3220U. Coming from a 21.5 iMac, this thing is massive and I've had zero issues with the M1 Mac Mini either. Even the keyboard volume works perfectly. No issues with waking up either. Picture quality is unbelievable, definitely on par with Mac screens.

Hi - would you still go with this 38" Monitor - or would you go back to something like the 32UN550 - given the options with Airplay, Universal control etc.? I could find the wallpaper, it is named "Desert landscape with rocks, tropical tree, grass and blooming cactuses" - It can be found on Freepik, I guess credits goes to upklyak.

I’d need more USB-C ports… Can you actually connect a USB-C Hub to have more USB-C ports? Would it still be able to charge my laptop, and other devices such as an iPad Pro and transfer data from 2 hard drives? 🤔
