Now, I can buy a new LG V40 for 345€ while the Note 9 is 600€. Okay, the Note's battery is bigger, but it has my hated curved screen and that screen has green light issues after a year use. LG V40 is also a king of the headphone output. Because of the curved screen and the significantly lower price, I would choose the LG V40. From Samsung products, I would prefer a flat screen with big battery and good audio quality of A70, but preferably for less than 300€. If you can, it's worth to wait for a while because the prices will drop for Samsung devices.

@@harisankard1404 my usage is less. I get it easily over a day. I have an S8 plus as well. Compared to it, V40 takes better shots during day. Night photos are bit dull with flash but it preserves great detail, much better than G7 thinQ. You may use any good editors to make them more pleasing. Overall a great device to use. Hope this helps

Yes, but it was killing me, because the bass overpowers the vocals and generally everything else. It took me more than a month to try to fine tune the audio settings and now it's okay, less because of my fine tuning and more because of my ears getting used to this. Generally speaking, LG V40 renders so many details in audio that I felt perplexed, because it's not like listening to a song but it's like listening to every instrument/singer of the song. I had to learn how to concentrate on the vocals while acknowledging all the other instruments. It's good, but I advise to everyone to look into the settings because you personally can fine tune it much better than the factory settings give you.

Dac is not an exclusive feature. Every samsung with exynos has it too (cirrus logic). Also some xiaomi, vivo and meizu phones.

LG V40 is better if you have expensive headphones or even expensive speakers because the quad dac does a lot more than dolby atmos. But sound quality is still decent with dolby atmos just not as good.

@@Dade_Soulja Amen! After the Oreo update V20 is all good. The upgrade to the V40 was a total impulse purchase. However now having used both (V20/V40) I really think you're safe holding onto your V20 until LG gives us a hybrid with removable battery, water resistance, OLED AND Quad DAC

@CalypsoNotch408 True. Certainly all 3 compete with each other (Google, LG, AND Samsung) and each have unique +/-. In my experience Google (Pixel) fans often have an iPhone mentality of all good (Pixel) v. all bad (everything else). Just pointing out that Google (Pixel) is using LG, Samsung Hardware just like LG and Samsung use Google Software. Maybe the companies should mate all their unique features into ONE definitive Android flagship?! (I know ain't gonna happen) :)

@@Michiganders I am a major HTC fan mostly because I travel alot and there isn't many phones out there that can beat their signal. HTC makes Google's phones. So the Google Pixel's are made by HTC. I have an HTC U11 right now that is exactly the Google pixel 2 but prettier and has HTC sense. If you check out the HTC U12 it is exactly like the Google pixel 3. I have not tried one of the Google phones to see if HTC has done as well with their signal. But everything about these 4 phones are exactly the same except the outer case!

It's brand name recognition. Samsung is simply more well-known and more trusted. I have an LG phone, and LG does make great products, but Samsung is still king in the Android market.

They manufacture best devices however no one knows it. True samsung is trusted however samsung does not hold the #1 market share... If u open any ecommerce website, all you see is entry-level to flagship mobile of Samsung and a bunch of chinese mobiles Ads ...not even a single LG unless you search for it!!! LG does not give demo mobile to reviewers, no ads in tv or anywhere. But he failed to show the volume levels or settings for Dolby ATMOS of the Note 9 or DAC settings of V40. There's a lot of things that can effect the volume and richness of the audio and he failed to cover that. Pointless test without addressing this.

@@theBoss3121 The V30 is great, I've had mine for about a year now and it hasnt lagged at all pretty much. But then, the front camera on the V40 might be a deal breaker since the one on the V30 is only 5MP.

Not really, its different usage scenarios. Some people will game on it then it gets hot sure. But others will just go through social media. The difference is pretty negligible but it shows how optimized the software is imo. Yes his internet depends on how the apps load of course, but you forget thats something you need to know how your phone handles before you buy it. If its wifi chip sucks or doesnt handle wifi well ect. It needs to be able to pull the information it needs through your internet. I think you overlooked that. Not everyone has 1gbps internet lol

Honestly, I haven't seen a phone whose wifi chip phone suck. I've seen LTE and GSM phone that performed poorly when comparing the same carrier. My point is that, if you open a webpage and both content are different (eg. one is a JPEG and another is GIF, what they need to download and load isn't equivalent, thus breaking your test as your not comparing apples to apples. I used my 1gbps internet as a reference that there should not be a bottleneck in speed but in phone performance. I had for many years ADLS+2 a 800kbps down and 100kbps up) and if your using a slower internet, and your bottle-necking it by prioritizing one connection for another, then again, this is not fair as one has to wait for the other to be done (did he Enable QoS?). I'm purely stating what are real methodology should be, all variables need to be known or accounted for. He has too many random and uncontrollable variables. So a lot of his speed test cannot be judge as accurate nor fair. In no case I'm here to hate the video, I find it entertaining but not accurate. My other point on the phone getting hot, is the SOC will thermal throttle when running a game for 5 or 15min compared to another phone. In this case, is the note 9 or V40 gonna lose in performances while gaming (let's say PUGB and Fortnite)? If you use for FB, instagram, Twitter or other, my note 3 hasn't let me down on that. Load the app as quickly as the V30. This doesn't do justice to the phone snapdragon 845. How come an 801 perform as well as 835? Just for launching apps. Not running them in full, as he just stays in the default menu. Do you swap that many apps like him constantly within 2min? I might do that for 2 apps, like Waze and spotify. But not that many constantly. It's still fun to see, but very inaccurate as a testing method. I choose to buy the LG V30+ as I wanted all the camera features it had and the headphone quaddac. And I am looking forward to see how LG V40 will sell.

I also had the 2 year contract LG V20 and was faced with same decision. I decided on the V40 ultimately but have held both (Note 9 and V40). To be honest the note 9 feels wider likely due to housing the stylus pen but NEITHER feel as wide as the V20. This takes getting use to when you upgrade. Any V20 owner will tell you the newer flagship phablets just feel lighter and thinner. This is not a bad thing but when you are accustomed to the V20 as your daily driver any upgrade is going to feel “smaller”. You really can't go wrong either way (V40 v. Note 9). If you need the stylus pen decision is made for you (Note 9). I traded my V20 to the V40. After ~ 5 days with the V40 (pre-ordered) I recommend it without reservation. On a side note my wife recently upgraded to iPhone XS Max and that phone actually feels closest to the weight and width of the V20 but would have to switch Android to iOs which I'm not doing ;)
