This has been a long time in the wait, Sebastian is a year away from driving age.
He's been looking at this CRX since he was 9 and always talked about it being his first car.
It's a 1990 CRX HF with some goodies already installed.
Seats,
Rear Disk brake
OEM fog light kit
Stereo system
The engine is pretty tired so I have a Fresh CRX Si motor to install.
He wanted to be apart of the build and he put in some time and learned what goes into it.
New Episode we'll replace the brakes, Door panels, Wheels, Most lightly replace the clutch , some paint clean up and some driving.

I would LOVE that HF transmission! I just got my D16y8 running in a classic Mini with 10" wheels an the HF has a much better final drive than the D16y7 transmission I'm using currently. The HF ratios are almost impossible to find. I love that you did this with your son! My eldest son helped me rebuild his D17 motor and transmission on his Acura EL.

I had a '91 CRX Si and seeing these videos makes me miss it so much. I have my late son's '91 Civic Hatch that he started and I will be finishing. Your video's with your son are very motivating for me, so that you for that. Oh, and the Del Sol wheels are my vote.

I had a 4-1 DC sports header I bought for my d16y7/y8 mini-me swapped ek hatch, it was my first header. I still have the car 24 years later major project now.

That's a sweet first car. Mine was an '85 prelude Si. I remember when I was around Sebastians age and my dad walking me through how to do my first timing belt job, good memories.

Had a HF and a DX as pizza delivery cars back in the day.. Took the Dx to an auto-x and came in 3rd place out of like 30+ cars.. the Dx came with coilovers from the previous owner and it would seem to oversteer when breaking loose, which I thought was uncommon and quite fun for a FWD.. I just remember there was an elevated highway exit ramp in cincinnati, by the GE plant where you could kinda 'drift' the whole 180degree turn. fun times

Exedy OEM clutch is what I use on my Cars !! I put a new OEM Honda clutch cable as well ! Drives amazing !

HX wheels for the win ! I run the 99 sir wheels on my 88 crx si. My son also turn 14 years old last week and he is also pushing me to get my 91 crx si special edition to run again.( with a build d16a6, bullfrog cam fully ported head and p29 piston, obd1 tuned on chrome) love your channel .

Im running R12 in my 1988 civic nice and cold.. have 5 spare cans just in case. These compressors are pressure sensitive so you need the correct amount in the system ! 31 oz r12 and 4.50 oz mineral oil. Sanden - Matsushita is 33 oz and 5 oz mineral oil.

HX wheels for looks and weight, but I have them on my ‘99 HX and with light suspension mods the car is under tired- I would suggest slightly wider wheels and tires down the line to pair with that suspension set-up to get the most out grip and brake for the kiddo. And light makes right! Great vid

Dejavu my dad did exact same thing when he gave me a crx for my first car I remember the problem we had was the battery terminal were corroded and I had a coke in my hand he said let me show u something then he poured some onto battery terminals and it ate all the corrosion away I'll never forget that

I just had my 1990 CRX Si linkage and shift tod redone today... all new bushings and poly as well. I have that DC sports header my CRX.

Get an exedy oem replacement clutch for about $110. Replace the throwout and pilot bearings with oem bearings. That clutch is currently handling 135hp and 118 torque in my 89 si that I vtec head swapped with a comp cams Stage 2 cam and it has oem clutch feel.

im doing the same thing with my son. With a 1993 honda prelude. Got him an engine now we need a timing belt,water pump,clutch And motor mounts or motor mount inserts. Awesome video.
