Japan has an endless pipeline of astonishing prodigy musicians. Among guitarists, we previously saw Saki, Hazuki (now both with Nemophila; Hazuki plays second lead with Lisa-X here), Haruka Noma, Sakura and now Lisa-X. Glad you got to this.

Adult Contemporary Prog Metal!🤣 Hazuki also composes for Lisa from time to time. Off the top of my head, she composed Just Be My Treasure and Cola Bottle Again. Lisa actually uploaded a guitar play through with her and Hazuki for both of those.💪🏻🤘🏻

Old rock lover here. When rock started splitting into a hundred different sub sets is when they lost me. These Japanese bands like here and Band-Maid by ignoring the "rules" about rock genetics have brought me back to the music I loved back in the 60s-70s.

This has a nice math rock kinda sound to it, with those shiny extended chords and the interesting rhythmic stuff thrown in to keep things interesting. Honestly even aside from the skills, it's a great example of how you can make a song sound really interesting by just playing around with the structure and timing. Play some chords when the listener isn't expecting them, leave space when they are, bring elements in and out instead of keeping them around for the whole section... it just sounds way more dynamic and creative

To give you an idea of how good Li-sa-X is, there's a video from a few years ago on KZfaq by Troy Grady called "Li-Sa-X, Marty Friedman, and the Power of Prodigy", where 10 year old Lisa is being interviewed by Marty, and they analyze her technique and ability to adapt (especially considering that she's always been playing with a full-sized guitar), and Marty is left seriously impressed. Li-sa-X is also insanely connected, and a lot of bands and musicians know who she is based on her KZfaq videos from when she was incredibly young. A fun example is Polyphia's mini documentary on their channel about their 1st time going to Japan, where they mention that one of the highlights was getting to meet Li-sa-X, as they had seen and known about her from her covers of their songs, and they jammed with her on stage.

Li-sa-X is the prodigy guitarist. She's doing this since 8 year old. She also likes Periphery band, as one of her influence in music.

Lisa X has been all over youtube since she was 6 or so. She has played with Marty Friedman and Paul Gilbert to name only a couple. Hazuki has been playing with her for 5 years. Rina has an incredibly beautiful voice (Rina was brought in by Hazuki). Her and Saiki are my favorite singers BY FAR.. The drummer and bass player are both heavy duty studio cats. Check the Philippines band called URBANDUB quite similar to this. URBANDUB had a similar style of interchanging between pop punk, alt rock and progressive rock.

Lisa X was born in February 2005 and is now on 17 years old, still in high school. She started learning to play guitar around age 5 because her father was a guitarist. in 2016 she was offered by Paul Gilbert to take online lessons. Of course the X in her name comes from Paul Gilbert's band “ Racer X”. Now in my mind, Lisa X Band is starting to have great value. I am looking forward to the day when she graduates from high school and starts her music carrer in earnest.

I really like their shredding parts, but all in all it's not a style of music I typically enjoy listening to. That being said, all 3 of them (and the drummer and bassist they hired) are great musicians. Rina has an amazing voice, it's just that I typically don't enjoy most ballads/slower songs. But I will keep checkin their songs out regardless. Lisa is an amazing guitarist and I am really curious where her career is going in the future. I can see amazing things from her. Also, fantastic work on composing a song like this as a 16-17 year old. It might not be 100% for me, but I can clearly hear that it is well crafted.

Student of 'Paul Gilbert' from both Racer X and Mr. Big who taught her after seeing her struggle with the intro to Mr. Big's tribute to Janis Joplin in a beautiful song and lyrics Paul wrote called 'Green Tinted Sixties' that Lisa was doing on KZfaq way before she was even a teen. So far she plays exclusively Ibanez guitars like her teacher! The dual lead guitar harmony is all Paul Gilbert style that the music industry of the late eighties and early nineties suppressed successfully to kill Rock for good in favor of they're 'new pet' grunge era. Check out Paul Gilbert and Mr Big 'LIVE' San Francisco 1992 Concert and Billy Sheehan and Paul Gilbert's signature pinch harmonic smokin' solo's...the video kinda goes ape at the end encore song if I remember VHS loaded, otherwise Rocking!

Junna is an amazing drummer, but I don't think she would be a good fit if they keep going for slower songs like this. I am also not sure how good of a fit she is for a band in general as she tends to overshadow/overpower everyone with her showmanship and aggressive drumming. I'm sure she is capable of drumming whatever style they ask of her, but I am not sure how happy she will be if it's for more than one song at a time. I think Kanade Sato would be a great fit though, she is also capable of doing whatever they ask of her and she has experience with both Jazz and Rock/Metal, so something more on the progressive side would be no problem. But she does have a band already (Ear Candy Jazz Factory) and works regularly with Rie a.k.a. Suzaku, so I'm not sure how much time she has left. She is apparently 19 years old, so she is probably still in school as well. I think adding Kanade Sato would work really well for a band like this, but I really like her drumming for a while now, so I am probably somewhat biased. As far as Miho goes, I don't follow Lovebites that much, but I think she more or less left to pursue other avenues. I would more check for someone like Rio from Mary's Blood, even though I think she might still do some thing with Eye from Mary's Blood after their hiatus, so who knows. Speaking about Mary's Blood. Mari, their drummer, is probably also looking for a job. She recently opened a solo youtube channel (Drummer MARI), so I don't think she has any plans at the moment and she has plenty of experience that she can share and help these younger musicians with. But I don't know how well the fit for this music would be. But I'm sure there are plenty of great drummers and bassists in Japan that can work with them if they want to work with full time drummers and bassists. The thing is that chemistry for a band is very important and finding somebody who fits well is not always easy. Just adding a great musician doesn't necessarily mean it will work well. And honestly, their hired musicians for this song already sound amazing. I'm not sure if they really want to go for more than the three of them. They can always try to hire someone like Senri Kawaguchi if she is up for it, but not sure how expensive that would be. She also has some experience with Rock/Metal through Rie a.k.a. Suzaku as well as her Jazz Fusion projects, so she would certainly be up for the task.

I was sure you would love it. The only other band I can think of who could be close was Mr Big ... and Li-sa was once Paul Gilbert student, so there could be an influence. She's still at school, so she can't release a lot of music but I'm really really expecting an album.

First saw Lisa playing at Naon Yaon 2017 in the guitar jam. My problem with Lisa is that I feel she is on exhibit, "see the cute little girl play the guitar". She seems removed from the song. The beautiful lady in white is Hazuki, you know from Nemophila!

She's technically proficient but Gary Moore moves me to play guitar. And Lynch, DiMartini, Schon, Gilmore, Page, I love this song but I don't reach for my guitar to play along with.

This is one of the reasons I really like the Japanese music scene. To (kind of) quote Marty Friedman when he interviewed Babymetal. In the west a pop song is a pop, a metal song is metal, dance music is dance music and so on. In Japan those things doesn't really exist. It's more of "I love chips and I love ice-cream. Let's try them together!". Sometimes it works brilliantly like Li-Sa-X Band, sometimes it doesn't but then you've tried. To me Gacharic Spin is kind of the epitome of the scene.
