Are these video based lessons and how engaging they are? My kid goes to 7th grade and she is very visual.

Hey there! These are not video lessons. The parent or learner reads the material and follows the course-work in a module based format. There are occasionally videos which are embedded in the lessons. These videos are intended to enhance the learning experience, but for the most part LUOA is a flexible-self paced learning environment where the parents serve as the first line of teaching/facilitating the lessons. Do they do "testing" like sol and assessments like public schools do??

If you mean national “testing” like they do for a few days in the spring? They don’t do that. You would need to opt in or out according to the rules of your locality. If you mean regular assessments and tests, the answer is yes. There is typically a quiz in each subject on Friday (roughly 25% of the overall grade) unless there is a unit test or semester test (roughly 40% of the overall grade) and various presentations, worksheets and other assignments which can be 35% of the grade depending on where they fall in the scale. The teacher assigned to the student will be doing the assessments. You will be updated with grades in real time and often the student has 2 attempts on quizzes. I hope that helps!

Hey there! There are weekly quizzes, tests, exams, and assignments that are graded. As far as standardized testing, you would need to make arrangements with the local school system. You can opt out of federal/standardized testing. I hope that helps! Make it a great day!
