Thank you so much for your videos! My question is, what style of learning is LUOA? I’m comparing Abeka’s spiral learning which introduces the same concepts over and over while building upon those concepts as the student advances year after year. Your help is appreciated!

Hey there, Tyler! I think you are asking about the spiritual aspect of the curriculum. If that's the case, the curriculum is taught from a Biblical worldview for every subject. They do a nice job knitting together the subjects (literacy, history, math, and science) with traditional values. The Bible lessons are also well structured. They are focused on the student's relationship with God and a practical application of scripture to the student's life. The Bible lessons are age appropriate and appear to build and become more in-depth as the student advances-or at least that's my opinion of the Kindergarten and 1st grade Bible curriculum. I’m a 3rd grade teacher of 3 years who is about to homeschool my daughter in third grade. I’m wondering, will I get bored with liberty or love facilitating it? We are also moving mid year so many things about liberty sound good to me. I welcome the support teaching my daughter but also want time to teach her myself and make decisions.

Hey there! I can't really say if you'd be bored, but you should be finished with the LUOA school day by 1 or so. Then you have the rest of the day to fill in with learning whatever you want. Check out co-ops, field trips, moms groups, etc. It's all about facilitating the learning environment. You can add in as much learning as you want to. Customization is the beautiful thing about homeschooling. All the best.

How much parental support on average do 6th graders and up need? She very self sufficient for the most part. Wondering because I'll be working 4 days a week and she will be doing some of the work at her grandparents.

I think it varies from student to student, but it wouldn’t be unusual for a student to be mostly self-directed by the 6th grade. You also get a parent account with the tuition, so you can monitor the progress. Also, You can enroll on a part-time basis if you wanted to try a class or two. It’s difficult for me to give you an honest answer because we have only been with LUOA for kindergarten, first grade, and second grade. Are you currently homeschooling? I hope that helps.

@@heytheretracyh no she is currently in public school (5th grade) and we are ready to exit! We are planning hopefully for her to start in 6th grade.

Oh, I see. Most of my friends with older kids (5th grade and above) serve more as a moderator than teacher by this stage. Remember LUOA is accredited, so there are teachers, phone teachers, advisors, as well as tech support in the event help is needed. Good luck! Also, LUOA has year round start dates, so if you find you just can’t make it to the end of the year, you can enroll at any time of the year. Please keep me updated. Ill have to teach the lessons? Even grades 8-12?

Hey there! You will most likely be supervising by that time. Most students work independently by the time they reach 6th grade, but you will still be facilitating the lessons and setting up the learning environment. I hope that helps.

Hey there! That would be a conversation to have with your LUOA advisor, but maybe you would be able to graduate high school early. The curriculum is year-round and you would be able to start anytime, so if you worked really hard it would be possible. LUOA also offers dual enrollment for eligible high school juniors and seniors. I’m sorry you are having issues. Have you tried calling the phone teacher or emailing your assigned teacher? Start there. The curriculum is challenging at times. All the best.
