Hey there! The videos are supplements to the curriculum and are imbedded within it. There is a misconception that the videos provide instruction. It is the parent or education coordinator who is actually teaching the material. The teachers at LUOA are there to grade assignments and to provide guidance and/or assistance when there is an issue, but you would be responsible for facilitating the learning environment. All of that being said, the videos imbedded in the curriculum are engaging and fun and provide additional support. Hey there! That would be a conversation to have with your LUOA advisor, but maybe you would be able to graduate high school early. The curriculum is year-round and you would be able to start anytime, so if you worked really hard it would be possible. LUOA also offers dual enrollment for eligible high school juniors and seniors. Hey there! Each lesson is designed to take between 35-45 minutes and there are a variety of activities like short videos, reading activities, a few games, worksheets and assignments. My son is also neurodivergent with ADHD and a lot of sensory issues. He really enjoyed both kindergarten and first grade. It was challenging but he really did well. I hope that helps. Do you mind if I ask how long (on average) does it take for you to get through a day of lessons on a 4 day school schedule? My child is going to be in first grade and we’re considering switching to LUOA this next school year. In deciding which route to go, I’m curious as to how long the lessons take each day. My child is neurodivergent, so I’m concerned about sensory overload and burn out from doing too much too fast. Kindergarten took us about 45 min up to 2 hours each day depending on the subject, and we used an online school program for that as well. It was the perfect amount of learning time and my child thrived.

I heated the mixture for 30 minutes and it didn't get very thick. I poured it over the strawberries and put it in the refrigerator. Hoping for the best. Please advise what temperature should be used, should it be brought to a boil and how long should it take to thicken. Thank you

They are a great resource for all those who are homeschooling. You could also check with LUOA www.liberty.edu/online-academy/ Some states consider LUOA a private school because it is accredited while others require the student to still be registered as a homeschooler with a letter of intent to homeschool and regular evaluations by either an umbrella group or the State. Hey there! These are not video lessons. The parent or learner reads the material and follows the course-work in a module based format. There are occasionally videos which are embedded in the lessons. These videos are intended to enhance the learning experience, but for the most part LUOA is a flexible-self paced learning environment where the parents serve as the first line of teaching/facilitating the lessons. Hey there! It's absolutely true that parents do the teaching, but there is support from a phone teacher, a chat teacher, a guidance counselor, etc. it is a homeschool program that is accredited. Sometimes there are extra lab fees and extra materials needed that are related to specific classes like a lab fee or something of that nature. There are also clubs and extra 3:59 4:03 activities that may be offered for an additional fee, but those are not required. Some other additional fees are highlighted 5:58 in the video. Love this idea! A great suggestion for those who don’t own laminators or small pockets for laminating- clear tape like packaging tape also makes a great dry erase surface. It’s like the ghetto version of laminating. For durability a laminator may be sturdier. So excited to give this a try.

Do you still have the same thoughts about LUOA? I have seen the reviews over the last year go downhill quickly and I'm wondering if their systems/structures are overwhelmed by the volume of interest in home/online learning? Many people in reviews are complaining about not being able to get help when needed (from teachers, admin, or IT), and kids falling behind and being failed for assignments and courses. What are you thoughts this year? And what grades are your kids in? Do you know anything about the high school academy?

Hey there! First I want to say I am sorry. I can almost sense how anxious you must be at trying to make a decision about homeschool and choosing the right curriculum for your family. You have already done the hardest part-deciding to homeschool. I hope that encourages you...now to your questions: We love LUOA/Ember still. I never experienced not being able to get help. I think some might not understand the way the LUOA is set up for help. Immediate questions should be directed to the "phone teacher" (there is always someone on call). When the student's assigned teacher is asked a question it does take about 24 hours for a teacher to answer sometimes. I was always able to reach a counselor or an IT person every single time I called. Additionally, we have exclusively used LUOA/Ember since kindergarten. Our son is now in the 3rd grade. The curriculum is demanding for sure and many are not prepared for the amount of reading and writing that is required beginning in the 2nd grade. I have not experienced the high school curriculum, but we have no plans to change. I have said before that the curriculum is challenging, but I also believe it is well rounded and fair with its expectations. Transferring to LUOA from a traditional school environment can also present its own set of issues and some find the process overwhelming. Usually all the challenges work themselves out as everyone acclimates to a new system, though. I hope that helps you. Please don't hesitate to reach out if I can help answer anything else. Hey there! Since LUOA is an accredited school, I really don't see the reason why a student couldn't go on to any institution of higher learning including the ones you mentioned. You may even find LUOA's curriculum better prepares its students for higher education than a traditional school model. I wish you luck. I hope that helps.

So because this is an accredited private school, does that mean you don’t have to do the typical homeschooling process in your state and you just register them.

Hey there! That depends on your individual state's requirements. Our state considered it a homeschooling program, so I was required to report to the State and register my son as a homeschooler. Other states consider LUOA to be a private school and do not require you to register as a homeschooler. LUOA keeps the official transcript and they have academic resources that a regular homeschooling program does not typically have. I hope that helps.

Well I just found your channel today I live in Louisiana... I have a k-5 , I want to homeschool but I don't want to hold him back from his full potential. I know statistics show homeschool kids are smarter, but I have adhd so sticking to a schedule and being on top of things can be a challenge for me. BUT I can't afford a private Christian school ans he would have to be in a charter school (which is a great school , it's as they get older that I have a issues with common core). So this is so affordable vs 10k a year + for private school. You said that I will have the supplies online but I have to teach it correct ? Did you find it hard teaching him to read? I'm so worried

@@TheBradfords Hey there! You will be the one teaching the material, but it is a very methodical and logical way to tech. You can do it-I promise. I had similar fears and issues. My son has ADHD and anxiety issues. He is really thriving in a homeschool environment. I can't imagine sending him to a transitional classroom environment. That would be detrimental to his creativity and to his learning capabilities. Homeschooling is honestly more about setting up a learning environment and showing kids how to learn and less about "teaching". Those examples in the video are real projects and parts of the curriculum. You really can see how much joy my son gets out of learning. You might even find you enjoy homeschooling, too-maybe not everyday, but most days. I hope that helps. You rock!

Hey there! It is the same curriculum. The differences are you make the schedule and arrange the lessons and there is no support from teachers, no grading by teachers, no administrative support, no guidance counselor, etc. the curriculum itself is the same. I hope that helps.
