This is the full breakdown of the lick of the day, that I just did a little bit earlier today.
It's a descending lick in the key of A... open strings, and sliding with pull off and hammer ons, using hybrid picking in different patterns.
You can't look at this as a scale because it's really not based on scales. The only true way to accomplish this style of playing is to just jump in with both feet and hold on. As you navigate between chord positions, utilizing as many open strings as possible.
Another thing you really need to think about is the difference between what style of pick or kind of pick you're using. Because with hybrid, picking the kind of pick that you use dictates the volume of each string that you're playing and whether or not it's going to sound natural.
As I explained in the last part of the video. The type of guitar pick you use when you're playing hybrid style. Guitar picking with a pick and fingers dictates whether or not the strings are going to sound even or remotely close to even in volume tone and attack.
If you notice some of the great guitar. Players that are all over KZfaq like #TimPierce #TomBukovac AKA #UncleLarry, #Guthrie Trapp
#RobertBaker , All of these guys have different styles and use different techniques.

Nice lick and the picks seem to make more difference on a Tele than they may on other guitars.

They make it on all guitars. It's super noticeable on acoustic guitars. You can't flat pick fingerstyle. It's just not a thing. And a Dunlop 60 nylon sounds absolutely terrible on acoustic. But those white picks make me feel like I can channel Clarence White on acoustic. The application and approach to each instrument is super reliant on the right hand technique. You'll. Never see a mandolin player use a nylon pick. Or trying to play with his or her fingers. It has to be a heavy, positive connection. Ok. With that, I'm out... midnight. Bed time. Gotta do this all over again in a few hours. Thank you for watching!

@@TwangTown I was mainly thinking of electric guitars. I can see picks making a lot of difference like you said on acoustic instruments.
