Hi Liesl! I wanted to let you know how much I appreciate your kindness in showing us how to draw and paint! And then you give a free sketch on top of it! I wanted you to know how much I appreciate it! I'd like to do your drawing tutorial, but it's nice that the sketch is available too and I can do the drawing at a later time! ! I have a question. Your colors look very concentrated and I was wondering how much water to paint you mix up? I’m assuming you used tube paint. It seems like it would be difficult to get a concentration of paint like yours with tube paints. I guess we could do a lighter version and it still come out beautiful! All your work is so amazing! In answer to your question, yes I do use a professional grade tube paint and the colors are very nice and bright. I actually have a different tutorial that I show how I mix my paint, and how much water to use! I think this video might answer your question better than I can write it here! @@lieslsartisticstudio I’ll look for your supplies description, thanks! And thanks for the link that describes how you mix paint to water. I have some Cotman pan paints and also have WN professional tubes. I got use to painting from dried paints in a palette and enjoy it that way. But I’m willing to try something new. 😊 I really love the wild roses because it reminds me of the beach roses I passed each time I walked to the beach as a young girl! Fond memories! You know Liana, I have come to find that each artist can have very particular preferences as to what brands, types, colors, paper, supplies etc. that they love, enjoy, and are use to using…and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that!! There is not just one “best” way to paint or one “best” supply to use. If you have paints that you enjoy and are comfortable using, don’t feel like you have to do something different! 😊 That’s why art is so great, we all can paint the same flower, but each of our paintings will still be individual and unique because WE are different and unique. 🥰 I’m glad to hear you have fond memories of wild roses. Isn’t it wonderful to have beautiful things remind us of wonderful times….

Liesl, I have a different request than most. Could you please share your video setup for your tutorials? I have a friend who is an artist and I would like to record me working on a project and then send it to her if I have questions about any projects. This is something I thought up of while I watched this tutorial . I would appreciate your help more than you know.

Hi Vanessa! I might be able to show it at some point, but actually, there’s not much to show! My setup is pretty simple, cheap and uncomplicated. 😊 I don’t have fancy lighting, microphones or cameras. I just use a little lighted tripod that holds my phone, put it on a nice big table, and adjust the angle so it’s bending at 90 degrees, and then push record! Nothing to fancy or complicated! Hello again! Usually I don’t worry about stretching my paper. 😉 But I know some people really like to do that, it’s just a matter of preference. You’ll have to choose what’s right for you I guess! 🥰
