I went out on the streets in the Philippines to ask foreigners some questions about life in the Philippines. What they like and hate about life in the Philippines.

Lord. Whether you make $1000 a month or $10000 a month Philippines and many other places in the world are cheaper than the USA. Quality of life on the cheap is the best way to go. No matter how much you make. My wife and I make 15k a month together and plan on living in the Philippines in the next year. And yes we will still make that living there. Just live your best life!!! :) good bless the Philippines 🇵🇭;)

Yeah, even white people get stared at because for a lot of people, it's rare to see a foreigner in public.

Tell foreigners that the staring contest is just out of curiosity. Nothing much to be scared of. Haha. But that's literally me if I will be in a foreign country. Just communicate with the locals, it's part of the experience but ofc being alert and cautious sometimes is not a problem. You have a good day! Nice content btw!

Zendel, I’m in the United States and work with many Filipinos. After 15 years of working with them, I say: “I never meet a Filipino I didn’t like.” I had a older coworker that was like my Filipina mom. I miss her after she retired. Another Filipino coworker talks to me about his plans to go back when he retires. I just started practicing Tagalog with him. Magkaroon ng magandang araw!

I'm a Filipino-American who lived here from 84-92. This is my first time back and I gotta admit, my anxiety is high. Everything has obviously changed in the 30 years since I've lived here. Public transportation confuses me so I have yet to go outside of Araneta Center. Communication has been a little tough as my Tagalog is very basic and my Southern accent makes it tough for some to understand me. But I am still making the best of my time, and grateful to be able to visit my beautiful (but very hot lol) homeland.

Thank you for so much complements on the Philippines. Apologies for the tendency to stare at all foreigners - not as an insult - rather as just being shy about openly saying Hello...but if you smile at us...we will be very happy to talk to you too. Note also that if you were taller, or hunkier, or bigger than a Filipino you come across....it will be shyness on our part. Welcome to my country!

@Darth Sifu ‘it will surely help locals make some improvements based on foreign perception.’ Are you kidding? The LAST thing that promotes any kind of change is foreign observation. The key to making it in any country is adapting to the local customs. You can somewhat control your immediate environment to some degree. In my house in Cebu, when you walk in my door, it’s western standards. I will have internet, cable, aircon, mid to high end dwelling, security, etc. If the power fails or something dependent on local infrastructure fails, whining about it is useless. Deal with it. COVID protocols are s good example. In case you haven’t noticed, the Philippines is much slower to follow the rest of the world and move on. Any type of political activism to effect change on the part of s foreigner will get you on the wrong end of a deportation order. Not to be pessimistic, and yes the people are friendly. Not to be confused with the people in certain market & entertainment districts, where that ‘smile’ is just to seperate you from your money. This is not a blanket indictment of all the Filipino people, just saying when you come here, make sure its with your eyes WIDE OPEN. Also, I never saw this creators vids before so I’m not critical of this one. Just keep in mind, even vloggers from your own country, US etc., have a vested interest in blowing sunshine up your ass because its all about ‘clicks & views’. Try and network with other ex-pats whose goals are close to yours, instead of the red-light district yahoo’s who perpetually gear their vids towards the naive idiots and portray the ‘Walking Street’ or other like areas as paradise. I try not to criticize vids on their own channel as these guys are trying to supplement their income over here, which in a lot of cases is meager, and who am I to interfere with that. I will engage commenters once in awhile though. I guess my long winded point was, for the most part, this is a ‘shut up and obey’ society and its not changing anytime soon.

Hey Guys- I am Al- American that married a Filipina twelve years ago and the Best decision I ever made! I too have spent 'lots' of time in the Philippines/PI since '78 and have seen a fair amount of the country- worked with Filipino's there and abroad. Unfortunately were now back living in the US (And don't luv it!) but were also Non-vaccine people so flying is the problem etc.- yet we'll see?) Anyway, what I would like to plug-in here is this- my wife and I also from here support a small outreach project in southern PI- island of Samal off the coast of Davao City. There we set-up a Filipino Christian friend/sister and helped her open a small restaurant and she has taken-in some street ophans and is raising them in a proper way to be able to grow up and make a life for themelsves in PI. And here I's like to say- as you 'open your hands and hearts' you also Get Back A Lot of satisfaction in that you re Doing Something of Worth (Reason to Be!) Yeah- in PI one good man or woman can do A lot to change 'some people's lives for the better!!!! I appreciate that living in shorts, a t-shirt and sandals is great- the Dolla $ goes farrrr, the beaches are Kool and access to women is 'easy' for the average Foreigner- but also remember that there is yet More- holding your hand out to the poor, sharing something that you know how to do- teaching English, sharing what the US is really like- the Pros & Cons of what you personally would want your own relations to know- what Democracy is and is not -ALL of these ideas and what you can share someone needs in PI!!!!!! In this you Can be someone Special to others whereas here in the US were nothin-special- and between the fear, suspicion we have over here and the constant pressure of making Dollars and now the inflations i.e. gas $5- A gallon is making the US look less attractive all the time. In PI the same is true for the Locals (As gas there is always higher than here!) but what PI has and is- is An Opportunity to Do Something for others where "You" Can make a difference! Anyway, for now here in the US for us but someday back to PI !

or maybe you can open up with something like "may I have a small chat with you about the Philippines?" instead of "may i have a quick interview about your stay here in the Philippines?" because it feels so rushed, specially that guy from Vegas. This will give your interviews more time to react rather than spew out something they don't really mean. Slow down, and maybe, just maybe every video will be more interesting. Locals stare to foreigners because they're curious and they don't see foreigners daily or used to be especially in the province. It's Filipino habit foreigners don't understand, even local to local if you're new to the place they'll be curiously staring at you, maybe it's offensive to others but that's the norm people used to grow up to.

@@sportyguy9326 right? Here in the US they have to speed up which explains the common rude customer service. But in the Philippines you get paid to be nice or you’ll lose your job. So it’s either you choose fast service but rude treatment or slow service but respectful staff.

This is a good idea interviewing foreigners. What I suggest though is that these guys should blog especially the black guy, he has the looks and has got that great voice. For the one who talks about staring, I think Filipinos like to stare. Most stare because you look different and at the same time trying to figure out where you are from. Don't take it wrong, there' s more good to it than bad. Hope you get your 5K and more. Subscribed.
