Some women definitely do play mind games. Taking it in good faith, it's just a difference in both how emotions are processed and then how they're addressed. It's like sometimes how a woman needs to rant about something, and the ranting itself let's you get the emotions out so then you can just deal with whatever you were ranting about. Men tend to offer solutions and squash the rant as being pointlessly emotional about it... when sometimes a woman doesn't want or need solutions, she just needs to be allowed to be ticked about it for a minute, then she'll get over it after getting be emotions out. If you try to offer solutions when she just wanted you to lend an ear and just go "man that sucks" or whatever, it just feeds into the frustration. Ofc you're not a mind reader... So you could ask "you want potential solutions or just me to lend an ear". She probably wants you to just support her and be empathetic to her frustration, and she'll figure out the solution herself or let it go on her own. To men it's mind games... I think people misconstrue the empath part of this game in a bit of an unfair way. Because yeah empathy is a common human trait. But what's being shown in the game is heightened empathy. It's not meant to be a superpower like people are acting like. The point isn't being able to identify and feel emotions of other people. The point is that they affect alex more than other people. Like yeah if my friend is sad i can get sad with them. But i don't feel it the way they do. Alex does. I don't see it as fair to misrepresent the game's intent and mechanics personally.

Feeling the emotion of others is a common enough thing. Treated as a nice thing, but most empaths start blaming others for 'causing' the emotion in them. It's a gentrified old mining town, of course the records store, the pot shop and a florist are essential. After all there are all these young people living there. A nice Potemkin Village for the city folk to rest their head in a rural setting. The unrealistic thing is that any of the protagonists could afford to live in such a town.

Small rural towns often have only one communication network company that abuses the monopoly with high prices and low speeds and caps. A small media store would absolutely be a viable alternative in these places.
